He won multiple state championships and coached some of the most highly recruited high school athletes in northwest Louisiana. About Huntingdon: Huntingdon College is an NCAA III institution and a member of the USA South Athletic Conference. Huntingdon is coached by Mike Turk, in his 13th season at the Hawks’ helm.
LC in Season Openers (11-5):

Common Ground: LC and Huntingdon
College have only one common opponent on this year’s schedule. Both teams will take on Belhaven this season. LC will play the Blazers on Oct. 22 in Pineville, while Huntingdon will host Belhaven in two weeks on Sept. 17.
LC vs Ranked Teams (2-16): The Wildcats
are 1-9 in their last 10 games played against ranked teams. The last win came on Sept. 24, 2011 when they defeated #23 ranked Mississippi College, 52-17. The other win over a ranked opponent came in 2010, a 44-42 win over #7 ranked Hardin-Simmons.
Huntingdon 2016 at-a-glance: Huntingdon comes into the 2016 season with high expectations. The Hawks are ranked in the top 25 according to d3football. com’s preseason poll, the first time they have been ranked to start the season. Huntingdon is coming off the most successful season in program history. In 2015, the Hawks posted their first 10-win season with a 10-2 record, won their first conference title, advanced to the NCAA playoffs for the second time and won their first playoff game. Last season Huntingdon averaged 460.2 yards per game, with a very balanced attack along the way, 244 rushing and 215 passing, and averaged 40 points per game as well.
Defensively, the Hawks allowed 24 points a game and 359 yards of offense, and only 138 per game on the ground. Quarterback Luke Bailey has thrown for 51 touchdowns in his two-years as quarterback and needs only four more to set the school mark for touchdown passes in a career. LC 2016 at-a-glance: After a season that was riddled with injuries from the very beginning, 2016 has begun with a lot of promise for the Wildcats. The return of stand out receiver Shedrick Davis, along with four-year starter Easton Melancon at quarterback behind an experienced offensive line and powerful running game with Aurren Cooksey, has the makings of an explosive offense. Freshman defensive standout Orel Ledet, Jr. along with all-conference corner Willie Smith, will be key players in what hopes to be an improved defensive unit that finished last in the ASC in yards allowed in 2015. Old Heads: The Wildcats are returning 18 starters from last years team. Due to the number of injuries from 2015, several more “regulars” are also back adding depth in positions that lacked it last year.

Noisy Cricket: All-conference first team
defensive back Willie Smith emerged as one of the best shut down corners in the ASC in 2015. Smith and fellow corner Lecorey Demease comprise one of the best combinations of cover corners in the league, as well as leaders of a still young secondary. Year 2014 2015 Totals

“Shed”ing Defenders: After missing the
2015 season due to a shoulder infury, star receiver Shedrick “Shed” Davis returns to the Wildcats roster. In 2014, Davis, led the team with 47 receptions, and finished second on the team in yards and touchdowns. At 6’2” and 210 pounds, Shed, provides major matchup difficulties for opposing defensive backs.
The Center-piece: Junior center and 2015
first team all-confernece player Ryan Morris is the definition of consistant on the offensive line. Ryan has not missed a single snap in his college or high school career at one of the most demanding positions on the field.

Big Ben: The most prolific passer in Louisiana
College football history, Ben McLaughlin, has returned to his alma mater as the new offensive coordinator in 2016. McLaughlin still holds 12 single game, season, and career passing records at LC and threw for more than 12,000 yards in his career. He was a finalist for the Gagliardi Trophy, the Division III equivilant of the Heisman trophy, in 2010.
Familiar Faces: McLaughlin is not the only
coach on the staff to have donned a Wildcat uniform. All told there are currently eight former players that make up the 2016 coaching staff. The new additions for this year include defensive line coach Drew Maddox, Brandon Allen, Matt Standiford, and Dayshun Johnson. Those four To the Max: Junior defensive end Cade join receivers coach Dayne Reeves, and defensive Maxwell put together an outstanding coordinator Junstin Charles in the group of Sophomore campaign in 2015. Jonesing for Something Big: As one of the
Wildcats top deep threats Farron Jones is hoping this year goes better than last. Jones missed seven games after an injury sidelined him early on against ETBU. Now at 100%, Farron along with a deep receiver corps expect to put up some big numbers.

Head Coach Dennis Dunn
Dennis Dunn is in his eleventh year as the head football coach at Louisiana College. Overall, he has a 61-39 record in ten seasons as head coach. In his tenure at LC, Dunn has seen an amazing 93% graduation rate from his players, one of the highest such marks in the country. He has seen 115 players selected Academic All-Conference in his time at Louisiana College. In 2012, Dunn’s Wildcats enjoyed the finest year in program history, as they posted the first ever 8-win season in school history as well as making their first ever appearance in the NCAA Division III National Playoffs. The Wildcats also finished the season ranked #23 in the nation, the first time in school history that they have finished a season ranked in the top 25. His efforts were recognized by the league’s coaches and officials, as he was named the 2012 American Southwest Conference Coach of the Year. Louisiana College placed 20 players on the 2012 ASC All-Conference team, which set a new school record for most All-Conference honorees and more than any other team in the ASC in 2012. Dunn’s players received more individual accolades in 2012 than any other year in the program’s history, as he saw seven players named ASC Player of the Week during the 10-week regular season, five named to the D3Football.com Team of the Week, and two named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Player of the Week. He also saw five players land on both the D3Football.com All-South Region Team and the Louisiana Sports Writers Association All-Louisiana Team, both new high water marks in program history. Senior wide receiver D’Mario Parker was also named an All-American by D3Football.com, the first player since 2008 (Kendale Rayford) to earn that distinction and only the third in program history, joining Rayford and Matt Miller in 2003. In 2011, the Wildcats posted their fourth consecutive 7-3 record, which at the time equaled the best record that the program has produced since its rebirth in 2000, and a third-place finish in the highly-competitive American Southwest Conference. The 2011 Wildcats also made history when they received a top-25 national ranking for the first time in school history. LC climbed as high as No. 19 in the nation. All of Dunn’s teams have finished among the best offenses in the ASC and the nation and 2011 was no different In 2011, the LC offense finished atop the ASC in total offense and fifth nationally, averaging 485.9 yards per game. The Wildcats averaged 6.19 yards per play and scored 51 touchdowns and scoring 371 total points. In 2010, the Wildcats finished as the No.1-rated passing offense in all of NCAA Division III as well as the No. 2 in the nation in total offense and No. 3 in scoring offense . In that season, LC put up 3,785 yards through the air and scored 42 passing touchdowns. Overall, the Wildcats put up 5,137 total yards (513 per game average), just 28 yards short of the No. 1 team in the nation, and put up 457 total points.
LC’s 7-1 mark in conference that season was the best in school history. In addition, senior Ben McLaughlin, a quarterback who began his career at LC the same season as Dunn and went on to start four years, led Division III in passing yards (3,770) and all of the NCAA in passing touchdowns (42). This effort led McLaughlin be named the 2010 Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s All-Louisiana Offensive Player of the Year, an honor for which McLaughlin was the only Division III athlete nominated. He also received the prestigious Mehlberger Award, one of the two national, individual awards present in NCAA Division III and to be listed among the four finalists for the Gagliardi Trophy, the other national individual award in Division III. McLaughlin continued Dunn’s line of tremendous quarterbacks that started at Evangel Christian Academy. In addition to his individual accolades in 2010, McLaughlin was also named the American Southwest Conference Freshman of the Year in 2006, all-conference in 2009 and 2010, conference offensive player of the year in 2010 and was a three-time ASC All-Academic selection and two-time ASC Distinguished Scholar Athlete honoree. In Dunn’s first season (2006), the Wildcats lost five games, three of which came by a combined seven points. In his second season (2007), the Wildcats closed the season with three consecutive wins, which had not been done since football was revived at LC in 2000, and a .500 record (5-5). In 2008, Dunn’s squad made history, bringing a winning team to the campus for the first time since 1962 (the school discontinued football from 1969-1999) with a 7-3 overall record. The 2008 season was doubly historic as it marked the first time LC played an on-campus game since the revival of football. Dunn’s hard work and efforts in fundraising and vision for an on campus stadium culminated with Wildcat Stadium being built in the summer/fall of 2008. While at Evangel, Dunn coached former USC and current NFL quarterback, John David Booty, former NFL quarterback, Josh Booty, and former Miami Hurricane and current NFL quarterback, Brock Berlin. Dunn came to Louisiana College with one of the most impressive resumes in Louisiana high school football coaching history. Dunn began his head-coaching career at Woodlawn High School in Shreveport. He led Woodlawn to three district championships and the state playoffs all five years of his tenure. In 1992, Dunn took over at Evangel Christian Academy and turned the Eagles into one of the most successful high school programs in the nation. During his 14 years at Evangel, his teams won 14 district championships (never losing a district game), nine state championships (3 each in class 1A, 3A, and 5A), and one USA Today national championship in 1999. Dunn also coached 19 AllAmericans at Evangel. Dunn’s overall high school coaching record was a staggering 200-39. Dunn and his wife Melanie reside in Pineville.
Home of LC Football and Soccer
Wildcat Field
Wildcat Field was opened on October 25th, 2008. It is a state-of-the art grassy-turf field. Both the LC football and men’s and women’s soccer teams call Wildcat Field home. For football, it is the first on campus stadium in 40-years. For soccer it provides one of the best playing fields in all of NCAA Division III. Currently, the stadium phase is still under construction.
