2017 Basketball Rules

Level 2, 2nd-3rd Grade

IESA rules will be followed with the following exceptions: Equal playing time is required for all players. The league director can request proof of each kids playing time at their discretion from the coach at any time. Coaches should have a system to keep track of playing time. Teams will play 5 on 5. Teams will play man-to-man defense. (players will use wristbands to identify the players they are to guard on the other team)   

If a team has less than 5 players to start the game or do to injury, the other team is expected to match up accordingly. However, if it is due to foul outs or ejections, the team that is short players would be required to play 4 on 5, 3 on 5, etc There will be four 8 minute quarters with the clock stopping every 4 minutes for substitutes.

If a team has players unable to make it to the game that will cause a need for a forfeit, the coach will contact the director to arrange for a player within the level to fill in for the missing player(s). We do not want or encourage any team to forfeit due to lack of players. It isn’t fair to the parents who paid or the kids who showed up to play. Please make every effort to accommodate those changes, should they be needed. There is no double teaming on players except in the paint and on ball screens. Players will be allowed to switch and double team only on screens. I will leave it up to the coaches on how they want to teach defending screens. Players must fall back to half court on changes of possession Tournament seeds will be determined by records and then head to head matchups at the end of the season Players may be allowed to move up to approximately 12 ft for FT A technical foul on a player will result in them being required to set out the remainder of that game. Future punishment could be administered by the league director. 1st and 2nd place in the tournaments will receive trophies. Participation trophies will be given to the remainder of the teams who do not win one. Good sportsmanship is required by all coaches, players and fans.

2017 Basketball Rules

Level 2, 2nd-3rd Grade

There is a zero tolerance rule in effect for all adults involved with this program including fans and parents of players. Sportsmanship is the first step in developing our young athletes for their future careers. Anyone or anything that seeks to hinder this development will be asked to leave the premises immediately and may not return. Coaches are expected to match wristbands with the other team according to like ability. If coaches can’t agree, the ref or league director will make a fair decision.
