2017 CAVL Summer Camp/League The Central Austin Volleyball Summer Camp/League is a seven-week summer program where incoming and current high school players participate in professionally structure camp/league competition with referees to prepare for the upcoming season. This valuable experience is recommended by the high school coaches as a means to keep the players’ volleyball skills in top form. It is also an excellent opportunity to meet and interact with other players in our district, and for freshmen to get a taste of high school ball. This league will handle 12 total teams. This year CAVL will be providing coaches to work with all teams during competition and will give skill technique instructions prior to each match. Team Leader Kick Off/Check In will be Sunday, June 4th location and time TBD.
Only the Team contact person and/or the League Team Coach must attend and check in. Rules, uniform shirts, and schedules will be issued at this time. No entry confirmation will be sent to individuals; only to your Team contact person before the meeting. If your team’s entry is put on a waiting list, then your Team contact person will receive notification and your fees returned to them.

Rules & Information TEAM CAPTAIN DUTIES: Team captains are responsible for team communications and management during the games, and throughout the CAVL event. The following guidelines will direct play:
Officials will be provided by CAVL, however, Team Captains will assign score keeping and line calling tasks to their teams and ensure that those players are ready for duty during their assigned ref periods. This function is part of the learning experience and is not considered optional. Players may not wear any jewelry of any kind and cannot chew gum in the gyms. Cell phones and iPods should not be brought to the scoring table. Warm-up time is 10 minutes so total playtime is 50 minutes. Warm-up time is spilt 2/3/3/1. Timeouts are limited to one (30 seconds) per game. Time between games is 2 minutes. Scorekeeper must report scores to the Floor Director. CAVL understands that some players go to camps and on vacation. Therefore, league teams may play with less than 6 players, but teams must have at least 2 players to play a game. Players may be substituted from other teams if it is agreeable to both teams. Substituted players may play up a division, but not down. Substituted players from an upper league playing on a lower division team will result in forfeiture, but is acceptable in order to continue play. If a player arrives late, they must be entered onto the lineup sheet after which they can enter the game after either team takes a time out. League nights could be fast-paced and very hectic. If your team is not on time and ready to play, you may be forced to forfeit. POSTED MATCH TIME is 1st game forfeit, and then 15 minutes later is the 2nd game forfeit. If agreed by both teams, matches can start up to 10 minutes early, except for the first match of the evening. Unfortunately, some nights may run behind, CAVL will do everything possible to keep things on time. Warm-up time is very short, so you may want to bring your own balls and warm-up outside. Volleyballs are not allowed outside and there will be absolutely no balls in the hallways or foyer. No outside food or drinks into the gyms without previous permission. Player water bottles are okay. Players are expected to clean up after themselves and dispose of their trash in provided receptacles. No outside chairs may be brought in Any disputes or questions regarding the rules will be decided by CAVL leadership in conjunction with the recommendations of the referee personnel. All dispute decisions by CAVL will be final.
If at any time during the CAVL League season you have a question or need more information, please email me at
[email protected] or call me at 512.203.6315. Thanks again and I hope you enjoy your new Central Austin Volleyball League experience!
