2017 Cross Country Summer Running Calendar Our Cross Country program at Hudson has success every year because of the hard work that the students put in over the summer. Cross Country is a tough sport because it requires mental toughness and hard work...when everyone else is off for the summer. However, we are not asking for much time from you during the summer. High school practices last around 1 hour, while middle school practices are only about 30 minutes long. The importance of “summer running” is crucial for improvement throughout the CC season. A good “base” during the summer helps to prevent injuries once the season starts and helps for faster times as the season progresses. We hope that you will be able to commit to running some during the summer. If you are in middle school, try to run with the team as often as you can. If you are a high school runner, try to make it to 80% -100% (4-5 a week) of the summer practices. And if you know you can’t make a practice, try to run on your own. We know your family may go on vacation, the coaches go on vacation too; but try to run or workout when you are gone. The week before school starts is only “mandatory” for high school runners. Mandatory practice starts for middle school when school starts. Boys will practice in class on Bdays and after school on A-days. Girls will practice in class on A-days and after school on B-days. If you play basketball also, you will just stay for the after school practice on the days you are supposed to. Please email with any questions or concerns you may have.
