DIAMOND CLUB MAKES A DIFFERENCE As we approach our 10th anniversary of the Texas State Diamond Club let me express thanks and gratitude from myself and the entire baseball program for your continued support and generosity. I think we started out with about $8,000 in contributions in the spring of 2008. Since then, with the addition our Lead-Off Dinner and annual membership drive, we are exceeding $100,000. It goes without saying, your support has been an integral part of the growth and popularity of Bobcat baseball. Our attendance and ticket sales continue to increase and we like to think the fan experience at Bobcat Ballpark is among the best in the Sun Belt Conference. We start the 2017 campaign with 21 lettermen, but only three seniors. We return several position players that have a high level playing experience. We will have to replace several innings on the mound, but we are excited about our returning pitchers stepping into larger roles. Our newcomers are continuing to develop into their new roles and we are all meshing together as a team. Once again, our schedule is outstanding and should be a treat for fans. Our 56-game schedule includes 33 home games starting with a four-game home stand against Purdue on Feb. 17. Seventeen of our first 20 games will be at home which we hope will give our young pitching staff some confidence and experience. The home schedule includes games against Baylor, Rice, Texas and Texas A&M and perhaps the most exciting will be a three-game series with defending national champion Coastal Carolina, March 17-19. CCU captured the college baseball world with its championship last spring and becomes a Sun Belt Conference member this season. We are excited about the upcoming season and look forward to your support. The Diamond Club has helped us enhance travel, stadium and equipment upgrades and recuiting.
