Individual and team goals WILL NOT be met without focus on this base training... the entire season depends on it! If we want to be great, we must commit to this off season and we must be smart- the progression of mileage is designed to build strength and endurance slowly over the summer so we can train hard and avoid injury once the season begins in August. Becoming a great distance runner does not happen quickly- our team focus will continue to be "Patience & Consistent Action"... this is what we must have to get better. The huge time drops can and will happen for those who have patience and engage in consistent action over the next 20 weeks. All workouts will be scaled to fit 3 levels of athlete (Groups 1,2,3) Group 1 is considered the top group, these athletes are experienced runners who can handle high mileage and will be the top Varsity runners. Group 2 is our middle group- these athletes are experienced and can handle high mileage however the pace of the miles will be scaled to their ability. Group 3 is considered our inexperienced group for anyone who is new to the team- these athletes must stay at low mileage so their bodies can adjust to the workload over the summer- injury prevention is a major consideration with this group.
