The FHSEYFL continues to grow and provides a great opportunity for the families within the HSE School District. Once again, we anticipate over 900 youth participants in our flag and tackle leagues.

 

   

The purpose of the Fishers-HSE Youth Football program is:  To develop and maintain a properly supervised football league for Fishers youth in Kindergarten to sixth grades.  To promote improved community relations by demonstrating an interest in the youth of our community.  To encourage physical and mental growth through keen competition.  To emphasize good citizenship and Scholastic achievement.  To nurture good sportsmanship and a sense of fair play. We hope that you have a rewarding and exciting season. Please review the following information and enclosures prior to the onset of the 2017 season. Camp is offered to 4 - 6 grade (as of 2016-2017 school year) football players – ALL participants must be registered through S.P.O.R.T.S. for the 2017 season. This is a voluntary program for recreational and travel players, however, it is strongly recommended to help your child get into shape and to get use to the heat. June TBD Mandatory Tackle Coaches Clinics: Each coach MUST attend one of these two clinics to be considered for a head coaching position. **PLAYERS MUST BE PRESENT AT EQUIPMENT HANDOUTS TO ENSURE A PROPER FITTING. If your child is not able to make it to your designated grade handout, please make every effort to attend one of the other issue dates. Equipment handout requires a $250 deposit at the time equipment is issued. Please bring a check for the deposit when you attend equipment handout; this check will NOT be deposited and will be returned upon return of equipment at the end of the season.

The Border Wars All-Star team tournament and the Knight’s playoffs will extend into Fall break. Please take this into consideration when trying out or making plans. Players are expected to be available during Fall break for practice and games.

FISHERS-HSE Youth Football Leagues  

RECREATION PROGRAM  

Flag Football Leagues – Kindergarten League/1st Grade League/2nd Grade League

 

This league is for any youth football player (male or female) in the HSE School District entering st nd Kindergarten and 1 or 2 grade who is at least five (5) years of age but not nine (9) years of age prior to st June 1 of the current season. These are non-contact leagues for those youth who are ready to begin playing football. Coaches will work with the players on teaching the fundamentals of the game in a fun and enjoyable atmosphere.

The Flag leagues will be divided separately into Kindergarten & 1 Grade, and 2 Grade – no exceptions. The Flag leagues will honor only one request per player to be placed with a friend or for carpooling reasons.

 

 

No player will be allowed to play up a division. Participation trophies are provided for all flag league participants.

 

 

 

 

3rd Grade Tackle/Contact League rd

This league is for any youth football player (male or female) in the HSE School District entering the 3 st rd grade who is not ten (10) years of age prior to June 1 of the current season. A 3 grade player must weigh a minimum of 45 pounds. Offensive backs, ends, and receivers are not to exceed 85 pounds. Any player between 85.1 and 130 will be designated as a “one striper” and cannot play a ball carrying position. Any player over 130 will be designated as a “two striper” and is restricted to playing offensive line only from tackle to tackle. The emphasis of this league is on presenting the basic fundamentals of the game with football instruction. Scores/ standings will be recorded. Each player will be assigned a team by a coach draft. Every rd player is required to attend the designated session for the 3 grade mini-camp and evaluations. This league plays at Mudsock Park. The recreation season will end with an end-of-season playoff and championship game. Trophies are awarded to the championship game participants. rd

There will be a 3 grade BorderWars All-Star Team(s) at the conclusion of the season. Individuals designated by the FHSEYFL Board who are experienced in the football program will coach this team(s) as selected by the rd Coaches Committee, 3 Grade Commissioners and approved by the Board. The best players will be selected. rd

The All-Star coaches choose the team in connection with the 3 Grade League Commissioners based on nominations from the league coaches.

A 4 grade player must weigh a minimum of 45 pounds. Offensive backs, ends, and receivers are not to exceed 95 pounds. Any player between 95.1 and 145 will be designated as a “one striper” and cannot play a ball carrying position. Any player over 145 will be designated as a “two striper” and is restricted to playing offensive line only from tackle to tackle. This is a competitive league with continued emphasis on the basic fundamentals of the game with additional football instruction. Scores/ standings will be recorded. Each player will be assigned a team by a th coach draft. Every player is required to attend the designated session for the 4 grade mini-camp and evaluations. This league plays at Mudsock Park. The recreation season will end with an end-of-season playoff and championship game. Trophies are awarded to the championship game participants. th

Any player over 170 will be designated as a “two striper” and is restricted to playing offensive line only from tackle to tackle. This is a competitive league with continued emphasis on fundamentals of the game with a higher level of football instruction. Scores/standings will be recorded. Each player will be assigned a team by a coach draft. Every th player is required to attend the designated session for the 5 grade mini-camp and evaluations. This league plays at Mudsock Park. The recreation season will end with an end-of-season playoff and championship game. Trophies are awarded to the championship game participants.

Offensive backs, ends, and receivers are not to exceed 115 pounds. Any player between 115.1 and 170 will be designated as a “one striper” and cannot play a ball carrying position. Any player over 170 will be designated as a “two striper” and is restricted to playing offensive line only from tackle to tackle. This is a competitive league with continued emphasis on fundamentals of the game with a higher level of football instruction. Scores/standings will be recorded. Each player will be assigned a team by a coach draft. Every th player is required to attend the designated session for the 6 grade mini-camp and evaluations. This league plays at Mudsock Park. The recreation season will end with an end-of-season playoff and championship game. Trophies are awarded to the championship game participants.

Individuals designated by the FHSEYFL Board who are experienced in the th football program will coach this team(s) as selected by the Coaches Committee, 6 Grade Commissioners, and approved by the Board. The best players will be selected among eligible players. The All-Star coaches th choose the team in connection with the 6 Grade League Commissioners based on nominations of All-Star eligible players from the league coaches.

** No player will be allowed to play up in any grade absent extraordinary circumstances approved only by the Rules Committee, the Board President and approved by the Board.

Knights IEFA Travel Team – 5th/6th Grade

Joe Dunn will be starting his second season as The Knights head coach. The FHSEYFL Board annually reviews and approves all assistant coaches as proposed by the head coach. The head coach will determine additional support staff.

TRAVEL FOOTBALL TRYOUTS KNIGHTS AND 5 and 6th GRADE BORDER WARS ALL-STAR TEAMS th

The FHSEYFL has two opportunities to play travel football in 5 /6 Grade. The travel program provides our youth players with an opportunity to compete at the highest level against the best competition from other leagues in Central Indiana and around the state. The th th travel football program is available to 5 and 6 grade tackle players.

 

 

 

Within this program, there are two entities: 1) the Knights travel team and 2) multiple Fishers- HSE Border Wars All-Star teams. The Knights are the FHSEYFL’s premier travel team representing the City of Fishers in the Indiana Elementary Football Association (IEFA). The Fishers-HSE Border Wars All-Star Teams are the recreation league all-star teams that represent FHSEYFL in the Border Wars Tournament following regular season recreational league play.

All 5th and 6th grade players interested in playing for the Knights Travel football team and/or the BorderWars All-Star teams must attend Travel Football Tryouts. July 12, 13, 14 & 15 th th Travel Tryouts: Travel Football Tryouts for 5 and 6 graders interested in playing for the th th Knights travel team and/or the 5 and 6 grade Border Wars All-Star teams will take place on July 12, 13, 14, and 15 at (Fishers High School Freshman Practice Field, Behind Visitors bleachers of football stadium). Those players not selected for the Knights will begin being notified AFTER the third day of Tryouts on Friday, July 14, 2017. Coach Dunn and his staff will continue Tryouts for the remaining players and then select and post the final roster for the Knights on Sunday, July 16, 2017.

  Any player who does not return for Knights Tryouts on July 15th or not selected for the Knights th th MUST attend evaluations for 5 and 6 grade players at Cyntheanne Park on Friday, July 21 to be eligible for the draft. If you do not attend evaluations, then the player will be placed in the blind draw during the draft.

 

Players attending Travel Tryouts for a minimum of the first three (3) evenings will be eligible for the Border Wars All-Star teams.

 

The Knight’s season will extend into Fall Break due to playoffs. Please take this into consideration when trying out or making plans. Players are expected to be available during Fall Break for practice and the IEFA tournament.  

NOTE: Attendance at Travel Tryouts is mandatory for any 5th or 6th grade player interested in being eligible for the Border Wars All-Star teams or the Knights. There will be no exceptions unless extraordinary circumstances exist. Any request for an exception must be submitted by a parent/guardian BEFORE July 12 at 5:00 pm to the Board President and the respective League Commissioners. No exceptions will be considered if notification is not provided to the Board President and League commissioners prior to Travel Tryouts. All exceptions must be approved by the Football Board.

Border Wars All-Stars Player Selection Process (3rd – 6th Grades)

  Recreation tackle league coaches will nominate no more than four (4) All-Star eligible players from each team th after the 6 game although any BorderWars All-Star eligible player may be selected. Final selections for the BorderWars All-Star teams will be determined near the conclusion of the recreation tackle league seasons by rd th th th the All-Star Head and Assistant Coaches and the tackle league commissioners for 3 , 4 , 5 and 6 grades.

 

Practices and games for the BorderWars All-Star Tournament may begin over Fall Break. Please take this into consideration when trying out or making plans during that time period. Players are expected to be available during Fall Break for practice and the BorderWars All-Star tournament.

BorderWars All-Star Coaches: The head coach of the 3 , 4 , 5 and 6 grade All-Star teams will be selected from all qualified coaching applicants received prior to the deadline set by the Football Board. The All-Star Coaches will be selected by the respective League Commissioners, Board President and the Coaches Committee, and approved by the Board.  

   

UNIFORMS

 

Flag Uniforms will consist of the following:  Game Jersey (provided by the FHSEYFL): During league games, all football participants must be equipped with game jerseys that are numbered on the back.  Pants (provided by parents/guardian)  Mouthpiece: all football participants must be equipped with a mouthpiece, which will be in the players’ mouth when the ball is in play.  Cleats

Tackle League uniforms will consist of the following:  Shoulder pads and helmet (provided by the FHSEYFL with a deposit of $250 – Please bring a check for the deposit when you attend equipment handout; this check will be deposited and escrowed in the league account and will be returned upon return of equipment at the end of the season)  Game Jersey (provided by the FHSEYFL): During league games, all football participants must be equipped with game jerseys that are numbered on the back.  Practice pants/pads are provided by parents/guardians  Mouthpieces are provided by parents/guardians. All football participants must be equipped with a mouthpiece, which will be in the player’s mouth when the ball is in play.  Cleats are provided by parents/guardians. No metal cleats allowed. Also, no metal part may protrude from the sole of the shoe.  Socks and helmet decals are provided by the FHSEYFL.

EQUIPMENT HANDOUTS  

     

  

Fishers-HSE Youth Football will loan equipment (one (1) football helmet and one (1) set of shoulder pads) to all registered participants in return for an EQUIPMENT DEPOSIT. The EQUIPMENT DEPOSIT will be in the amount of $250 and is required to be made on or before equipment is issued to the registered participant. The EQUIPMENT DEPOSIT will be returned to registered participants once equipment is returned at the conclusion of the season. EQUIPMENT DEPOSITS will be cashed if equipment is not returned by the last Equipment Return Date. No Refunds. Equipment is the property of the Fishers-HSE Youth Football and must be returned even after the deposit is cashed. This loan of equipment should never be confused for the sale of equipment. Registered participants must be present at the time of Equipment Handouts to ensure proper fitting.

Fishers-HSE Youth Football will offer the following dates for Equipment Handouts: Saturday, June 3 Mudsock Barn 9 AM – 12 PM Tuesday, June 6 Mudsock Barn 6 – 8 PM Wednesday, June 21 Mudsock Barn 6 – 8 PM Monday, June 26 Mudsock Barn 6 – 8 PM Saturday, July 8 Mudsock Barn 9 AM to 12 PM LAST DAY TO PICK UP EQUIPMENT. Fishers-HSE Youth Football will offer Equipment returns: During Playoff Week. Teams will turn in Equipment immediately following their last game. Championship Weekend. Teams will turn in equipment the Monday following Championship Sunday. Border Wars. Teams will turn in equipment on the Monday following BW Championship Saturday.

 USING YOUR OWN HELMET? Y O U A R E A L L O W E D T O P U R C H A S E Y O U R O W N H E L M E T & S H O U L D E R P A D S . Your son still must attend equipment handout and have the helmet & shoulder pads reviewed and fitted by the Football Board.

PRACTICES  

The following applies to the recreation league program:  Prior to the first game, each team is permitted a total of ten (10) practices with no more than three practices per week.  A week is defined as Sunday through Saturday.  Practices may be held on Sundays after 1:00 pm provided all parents agree. No Sunday practices after the first game.  There will be a two-hour time limit for all practices.  Days of practices will be determined after the teams are formed. No more than two practices per week (after the first game) is allowed.  Locations of practices for each grade are determined by the league in consultation with the SPORTS office. Locations will be announced after teams are formed.

SUMMER CONDITIONING CAMP  

June 5– June 28

 

FHSEYFL invites all 4th - 6th grade (as of 2016-2017 school year) football players to participate in an off-season optional conditioning camp. This camp will be held on the following nights and locations: Monday: 7 – 8 PM @ Saxony Park Wednesday: 7 -8 PM @ Saxony Park All participants in the conditioning program must be registered through S.P.O.R.T.S. for the 2017 season. This is a voluntary program however it is strongly recommended for players to get into shape and begin dealing with inevitable hot weather.

 

There is no fee for conditioning camp.

OUR YOUTH PROGRAM CANNOT BE FUNDED ON REGISTRATION FEES ALONE! Sponsorship money helps pay for much needed capital improvements, field maintenance, referee fees, equipment, uniforms, trophies, and awards. We have some great opportunities for your contribution to be recognized throughout the community. Sponsorship fees are tax deductible as a promotional expense or as a charitable contribution (we are a 501(c)3 organization). LEAGUE REFUND POLICY A full refund (minus $32 non-refundable fee) up until the mini camp begins. Once the league issued equipment (helmet & shoulder pads) are used a full refund will not be issued. *There are exceptions to every rule and we'll make exceptions as we see fit (i.e. a player gets injured the first day of mini-camp and is out the rest of the season).
