2017 Greece Tornados Classic 12U 50-70 Tournament Rules

INSURANCE Teams must have their own insurance available with the following entities added as Additionally Insured: •

Greece Little League, Inc.

Nine (9) fielders will be played defensively at one time. Teams must be at the field 45 minutes before their scheduled game time. Games may start 15 minutes early if the previous game ends early and the field is ready. Teams will not be allowed to warm up on the infield before games. 12U fields will be 50/70. A regulation game consists of seven innings unless the game is shortened due to time limit or mercy rule, or if the game is extended by extra innings due to a tie score in single elimination or championship games. Home Team will be determined by coin flip prior to each game, for round robin games, and by higher seed in elimination games, and home team will be assigned the first base dugout. Games suspended by rain will be handled by the umpire. Each coach will be told how much playing time is remaining and when the game will resume. If a game is suspended due to weather or darkness and cannot be completed, the game will be considered a complete game if 5 innings are completed, or 4 1/2 innings if the home team is ahead. If the game is suspended prior to an inning being complete, the score will revert back to the previous inning unless the home team is ahead. Emergency contact number - Each team must have at least one (1) emergency contact number where they can be easily reached during the tournament. This should be provided to the acting tournament director upon registration. If the contact changes it is the team’s duty to inform the tournament director. The tournament will follow Little League rules, with the following exceptions: Time Limit and Extra Innings. A two (2) hour time limit will be in effect for ALL games, except the championship games. The two hour time limit will start as soon as the ground rules have been completed at home plate. The home plate umpire will announce the starting time. Games that are tied after the 2-hour time limit expires will be recorded as ties in pool play. If

a game is delayed by weather, the time during delay will not count toward the 2-hour time limit. Bats. All bats must be Little League approved. Bat shall not be more than 34 inches in length; nor more than 2 5/8 inches in diameter, and if wood, not less than fifteen-sixteenths (15/16) inches in diameter (7/8 inch for bats less than 30”) at its smallest part. All composite barrel bats shall meet the Batted Ball Coefficient of Restitution (BBCOR) performance standard, and such bats shall be so labeled with a silkscreen or other permanent certification mark. The certification mark shall be rectangular, a minimum of a half-inch on each side and located on the barrel of the bat in any contrasting color. Big Barrel or Little League sized bats are allowed, but may not be composite barrels unless they meet BBCOR standards (.50). Unlimited Defensive Substitutions. ONLY EXCEPTION: A Pitcher cannot re-enter the game as a pitcher once he is removed from pitching. An EH is considered a position player. Pitching. There is a pitch limit of nine (9) innings per player for the entire tournament. Teams must submit innings pitched by players to the registration area or text after each game. One pitch in an inning constitutes one inning pitched. Pitching limits are put in place to help protect arms. It is still the responsibility of the manager to protect players’ arms. Please do not go to the maximum innings pitched if your player’s arm is tired or sore. Mercy Rule • • •

10 runs after five innings, or four and one-half innings if home team is ahead. At any point, if the home team is behind, you must complete the inning. There is no inning run limit

Sliding Rule. Players must slide to avoid contact. It is never acceptable to knock over the catcher. This WILL NOT be tolerated. Players will be automatically ejected and the Tournament Director will issue a 1 game suspension. No head first sliding except when going back to a base. Batting Order. Each Team may choose to bat as many players as they like. Any hitter in the line-up who does not start the game in the field will be considered an Extra Hitter (EH). You must end the game with the same number of players in the batting order as you started. Extra hitters are considered defensive positions for substitution purposes and may hit anywhere in the line-up. The number of players you start hitting must remain the same for the remainder of the game. If a player is removed from the game and there is no one to substitute for them, unless they are removed for an injury, the position in the batting order is an out in the batting order. If a player is injured and removed from the batting order, a player in the game will take the injured players spot in the line-up. If no players are available to replace an injured player, that position in the batting order will be skipped and no out is recorded. The injured

player may not return to the line-up for that game. You may use 1 DH in your batting order for any position.

Speed up Rule. A courtesy runner can be used for the catcher (mandatory with 2 outs). This player must be someone not in the game OR the team’s last batted out. Once a player enters the game for another player (not including a courtesy runner), the player removed may re-enter the game once. Once the starting player re-enters the game, the player that was re-entered for is done for the game. Additional Rules of play. Infield Fly Rule and Dropped 3rd Strike are in effect. Coaches may not warm up pitchers. No batting donuts are allowed, and there is no on deck batter allowed. Players should not be swinging bats anywhere but on the field. Dangling Throat guards are required for catcher’s mask, regardless of mask style. Baseballs. Keep the games moving; on deck batters must retrieve all balls to the backstop. Game balls will be provided, but each team is required to have game balls available if game balls are used up. There are no batboys/batgirls allowed

In the event of rain or other matters beyond the control of the Tournament Director, the Tournament Director reserves the right to change the tournament format as he sees fit in order to complete the tournament in the scheduled time period.

All decisions made by the umpire are final. Any player or coach ejected from a game must leave the property. A second ejection of a player or coach in the tournament will result in disqualification for the remainder of the tournament. If the ejected party refuses to leave the Revised 7/08/17

playing facility, the Tournament Director, at his sole discretion, may elect to declare a forfeiture of the game and/or tournament for the offending team. The tournament director shall have final decision on all tournament ejections. Each Team must report score to the registration area or text score in within 15 minutes of finishing game. All forfeits scored 7-0 (that score will count in the run calculation for tiebreakers). The official score book is to be kept by the Home Team. It is the responsibility of both teams to verify game score at the end of each inning. If a discrepancy occurs, bring it to the attention of the umpire immediately. Tie Breakers. Note: If there is a 3 team tie breaker, after the first team advances, the next team that advances will be based on the 2 team tie breaker. 2 Team Tie Breaker: To determine a pool winner or to determine which team advances, the following tie breaker is in effect: • • • • •

(1st) tie breaker is head to head (2nd) tie breaker is run differential, with a maximum of +10 or -10 runs per game (3rd) tie breaker is runs allowed per game (4th) tie breaker will be runs scored per game, with a maximum of +10 or -10 runs per game Last tie breaker will be coin flip

3 or more Team Tie Breaker: To determine a pool winner or to determine which team advances first, the following tie breaker is in effect: • • • •

(1st) tie-breaker is head to head best record, but only if all teams have played each other head to head (2nd) tie-breaker is run differential, with a maximum of +10 or -10 runs per game (3rd) tie-breaker is runs allowed per game (4th) tie-breaker will be runs scored per game, with a maximum of +10 or -10 runs per game

IF rain causes teams not to play all pool play games in your division, the 1st tie-breaker would be win-loss record. After win-loss record, tie-breaker would be the tie-breakers listed above. Any team that forfeits a game before or once a game has started WILL NOT be permitted to advance to the playoff rounds. Teams that forfeit any games will not receive a three game guarantee.
