2017 Henry Clay Baseball Signing Day - Wednesday, May 10th These 3 seniors have had excellent careers at Henry Clay. As sophomores in 2015, they helped lead us to a 42nd District Championship & were 11th Region Runner-Up. In 2016, they led us to 23 wins, were the 42nd District Runner-Up and appeared in the 11th Region Semifinals. This year, we are currently 19-7 and on a 7 game winning streak. We are honored to celebrate the careers of these three student athletes and the commitment to continue their baseball careers at the next level.

Ray Hukill – RHP / IF – Marietta College Ray has been a 5 year member of the Henry Clay Baseball program and a 3 year varsity letterman. Ray broke on the scene as a sophomore, pitching 35 2/3 innings in 7 starts. His regular season was highlighted by a complete game 2-1 victory in a big district game at Bryan Station. In the 2015 District Championship, Ray started and pitched 5 scoreless innings to earn the win over Sayre. His efforts earned him a spot on the AllTournament team & he was the starting pitcher in the 11th Region Championship game. In his career thus far, Ray has started 18 games and pitched 102 2/3 innings. He has 10 career wins and 63 strikeouts. This season Ray has stepped up to also be one of our key hitters. While playing both second and third, Ray has hit 0.271 this year with a 0.381 OBP. He has 4 doubles, 13 walks, scored 10 runs, and is tied for the team lead with 2 home runs. His 21 RBI are good for 3rd most on the team this season. Ray has maintained a 3.29 unweighted/ 4.06 weighted GPA during his 4 years at Henry Clay. While at Marietta, Ray will major in Petroleum Engineering. Ray chose Marietta College over Transylvania, Webster University, and Ohio Northern.

Boo Thompson – 1B – Kentucky State University Adren “Boo” Thompson has been a 5 year member of the Henry Clay baseball program and a 2 year varsity starter at first base. As a junior, Boo came out of nowhere to become one of the most feared hitters in the 11th region. His 37 hits were second on the team and he led the team with 3 HR, 28 RBI, and 12 HBP. His efforts earned him a spot on the All-District team and he was voted 2nd Team All-City at first base by the coaches. After the season, he was chosen to represent the 11 th Region in the Kentucky East-West Junior All Star game. This year, Boo has continued his dominance at the plate. His 0.389 average and 0.521 OBP are both tops on the team, as well as his 28 RBI and 18 walks. In his two seasons as our first baseman, Boo is hitting 0.355 with 65 hits, 18 doubles, 2 triples, 5 home runs, 56 RBI, 32 walks, 16 HBP, and 32 runs scored. At first base, Boo has a career 0.977 fielding percentage, making only 11 errors in 482 chances and has saved many low throws. Boo carries a 3.22 unweighted/ 3.49 weighted GPA and plans to major in Nursing while attending Kentucky State University.

Luke Wilson – RHP / OF – Transylvania University Luke Wilson has been a 3 year member of the Henry Clay baseball program. He has been a standout on the mound, throwing 80 innings and making 13 starts. He holds a 10-2 career record with 66 strikeouts and a 2.19 ERA. As a junior, Luke made 9 starts and led the team with 55 innings pitched and a 1.53 ERA. He finished the season with a 7-1 record and his 7 wins are tied for the 3rd most wins in a season in school history. Luke pitched 3 innings of relief to earn the win in the first game of the 42nd District Tournament last year and then threw a complete game to defeat Lafayette 4-1 in the first game of the 11th Region Tournament. Luke’s season earned him a 1st Team AllCity selection on the mound and an invite to the Kentucky East-West Junior All Star game. In his career, Luke has picked off 15 runners with his great pickoff move. In the field, Luke has been a 2-year starter in the outfield. He has racked up 39 hits, 12 doubles, 1 triple and 42 RBI while being walked 19 times and scoring 31 runs. This year, his 6 doubles are tied for the team lead and he is second on the team w/ 25 RBI. Luke holds a 3.56 unweighted/ 4.26 weighted GPA and is undecided on his major. Luke chose Transylvania over Centre College and Spalding University.
