High School Tryouts #2 - Sunday, November 12th
Tryout Info Tryouts will consist of three phases; (1) Physical Testing, (2) Skill Evaluation & (3) Competition. After the three phases are completed, a player will be made an offer for a team or asked to come back to the next tryout. Please read the tryout page at cvamadison.net for further instructions. ALL players need to pre-register with Badger Region Webpoint and then with Capital at cvamadison.net. Please see the chart to the right for tryouts dates, times and age divisions.
A $45 tryout fee covers all tryout sessions the player may attend. Players may be asked to come back to the second scheduled tryout for further evaluation. There are no refunds for tryout fees. PLEASE PRE-REGISTER for tryouts at

Capital Volleyball Academy takes pride in being an educational program built upon the fundamental skills of volleyball. We believe the life lessons and values we teach are essential to players’ development as athletes, students, and young people. Our goal is to develop individual and team skills in order to compete at the highest level possible for each group. We recognize that the most important lessons we teach athletes stretch beyond the volleyball court. We believe that hard work is a core value that goes into everything we teach and train. Here are our core values, which we aim to instill in all Capital athletes: 1. There is inherent value in hard work. 2. The club volleyball experience should be challenging, fun and educational. 3. Every member of the team must put their own interests second to the betterment of the team. 4. Capital athletes should strive to be among the nation’s best and exemplify true sportsmanship. 5. Capital athletes should win and lose with equal grace. 6. Each time a Capital athlete takes the court, it is an opportunity to better themselves. 7. Athletics should complement academics.
Capital will be hosting multiple Open House Informational Meetings this Fall: Middle School Girls Information Meeting When: Sunday, October 1st / 1pm-3pm Where: SEA-Verona (address below) High School Girls Information Meeting When: Sunday, November 5th / 1pm-3pm Where: SEA-Stoughton (address below) Boys Information Meeting When: Sunday, November 12th / 5pm-7pm Where: SEA-Stoughton (address below) Parents, players & friends are welcome to attend. Information about dues, apparel, practice days, coaches, travel, fundraising, weight training, etc… will be addressed and released for the season during these meetings. Club directors and coaches will be available for questions
8. To give your best effort each day takes courage. Courage is habit-forming!
All Age Groups will practice Monday evenings and either Tuesday or Wednesday evenings. Teams will rotate practices between the SEA Verona gym and SEA Stoughton Gym. CVA has exclusive volleyball use of BOTH of the premier practice facilities in the Madison area! No other club’s leadership in the Madison area can come close to the success and experience of Capital’s lead coaches: Capital’s club director is Mark Rushton. Mark has over 20 years of experience coaching athletes at both the club and high school levels, and most recently was the Varsity Girls coach at Madison La Follette High School. He has coached over 100 athletes that have gone on to play volleyball collegiately. Mark is also a two-time Big 8 Conference Coach of the Year, and led the 2010 team to the Wisconsin Division 1 State Tournament. He coached his Capital 18 Navy team to the 2014 AAU National Championship, and his teams have had numerous top 10 National Championship finishes.
Cathy Noth - Director of Skill Development. Cathy is a former
All-American at the Univ. of Nebraska who also played on the USA National team as an alternate for the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Cathy was an assistant coach at the Univ. of Nebraska from 1988 -1998 where she coached over 20 NCAA All-Americans and helped lead the Huskers to their first NCAA national championship in 1995.
Franco Marcos - Associate Club Director.—Youth Pro-
grams Franco is a former varsity collegiate player at the Inter American University in Puerto Rico and also a club player at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Franco continues to play at the National level. Franco is also currently the Varsity Girls coach at Middleton High School. He continues to contribute to the improvement and growth of volleyball n the Madison area. Franco is a USAV Regional Certified Official and Clinician. He is Impact and CAP I certified.

CVA is the only club in the Madison area to offer teams that compete on a National level, which is essential should playing collegiately be your goal. We have the experience and knowledge needed to prepare you for the “next level”, whether that goal is to play in college, be a leader on your school team, or learn the basic fundamentals for the first time. CVA has the TOP junior volleyball coaching staff in Madison. Many of the top High School coaches from the Big 8, Badger, and Capitol Conference programs as well as current and former collegiate coaches and players choose to coach for and support the mission of Capital Volleyball Academy and our athletes.
