A water bottle A non-perishable packed snack or money to purchase a snack at camp (snacks are not refrigerated) Close-toed shoes (gym shoes/sneakers) daily. Campers are welcome to bring flip flops/sandals as well (and for pool days) Sunscreen Bathing suit, towel, and change of clothes for pool days (parents will be notified prior to pool days) Gym bag/backpack to keep belongings in *Please label all personal belongings with child’s name Is there anything that should not be sent to camp? You may send extra money for field trips with your child, but it is not required. No weapons/dangerous items. Toys, electronics, and phones can be brought to use during free time, but must be put away during scheduled activities. Please leave valuable personal belongings at home. The camp staff cannot be responsible for the loss of personal items, damage, or theft. Where is camp held? Camp will be held at the Manchester West Building. Campers should still be dropped off and picked up at Manchester West for field trips. If campers need to be dropped off or picked up at a different location, parents will be notified ahead of time. When does camp start and end? Camp runs Monday-Friday starting May 30thand ending July 28th. (It will be communicated if we do not have camp). Drop off/check in begins at 9:00 a.m. Early drop off/arrival begins at 8:00 a.m. and is an extra $5 per week. Campers should be picked up at 12:30 p.m. Parents must be present for drop off on the first day of camp to ensure all forms are turned in and to go over the drop off/pick up procedures. *Note: there will be no camp on July 3rd or 4th
What are the drop off and pick up procedures? Campers need to be signed in and out by a parent/guardian daily. Parents and guardians need to fill out a sign in and out sheet on the first day. On the sheet, parents and guardians can give permission for other adults to pick up their children. When/Where do they swim? We will be swimming at the Pirate Athletic Center on Tuesdays starting the fourth week of camp. Campers should still be dropped off and picked up at Manchester West. We will walk to the PAC as a group. Parents will be reminded of swim days to ensure that their child has the proper equipment (swim suit, towel, sandals, change of clothes). What do you do if it rains? It depends on the day and what we have scheduled. We will still go on field trips, however if the trip is an outdoor venue that would be affected by weather, the trip may be canceled. We will do the best to communicate changes with trips as soon as possible. In these cases, we will have indoor activities planned for the campers such as gym time, board games, and movies. What if there is a “Heat Advisory” in effect? We will shorten the length of our activity periods and take scheduled water breaks throughout the day. We may also bring out the sprinklers and hoses, and have some water fun! How can I contact camp staff during the day in the event of an emergency? In the case of an emergency and you need to contact summer rec staff, please do so by any of the following: Email:
[email protected] Office phone number: (440)-259-9705 ext. 9705 Text/Call Summer Rec Staff Director: (440)-227-4722 A few notes on field trips: Some trips will require swim suits and/or an extra change of clothes. Parents will be notified in advance what is needed for specific trips. Campers are required to wear their camp shirts at all times on field trips. This is a safety issue and we cannot make exceptions. Please send a bagged lunch or money for your child to purchase a lunch there.
Format: Campers at our camp will enjoy a wide variety of fun, new, and safe experiences. The camp will be broken up into groups based on age and we will sometimes do group activities with everyone involved. Campers will rotate between indoor and outdoor activities to limit their heat/sun exposure while still giving them the fresh air and open space all children need to grow and develop. We will be placing an emphasis on outdoor activities this year to really get the campers moving and having fun. On a normal camp day, campers will rotate between three stations, including arts and crafts, science exploration, and gym/sports time. Through these stations, campers will engage in a variety of activities, through which they will have a lot of fun, learn a lot, and interact with their friends and classmates, as well as the staff.
Basic Camper Rules: These rules and regulations are necessary so that we may enhance the enjoyment and safety of all participants. The staff reserves the right to add or to modify the rules as needed to create a positive and safe program for your children. 1. Children will use appropriate behavior and language at all times and will use materials and supplies in a safe and appropriate manner. 2. Respect and follow the directions of camp staff. This includes participating in all scheduled activities. 3. Respect the property of Perry Summer Recreation, Perry Public Schools, and all places that we will travel to, including parks and field trips. 4. No fighting or disruptive behavior will be tolerated. Please be sure to read the discipline procedure to your child so they are aware of the consequences. 5. All camp participants must stay within the designated boundaries of the camp as outlined by camp personnel. 6. Have fun!
Discipline Policy: Violations of camp rules will result in the following action: First Offense: A verbal warning from a camp counselor or camp director. Second Offense: A written warning from a camp counselor or camp director, plus contact to parent or guardian of participant by camp director. Third Offense: A second written warning will be issued, plus a meeting between the participant, his/her parent or guardian, and the camp director. The success of the program and the safety of all participants are contingent on each individual respecting and obeying the rules listed above. We hope each child will have a positive, fun experience during the camp. We are committed to working together with you and your child to ensure this happens. We appreciate your time, respect, and support on these rules and regulations.
