THE SCIENCE BEHIND THE PERFORMANCE TAKING NO COMRPOMISES LEADS TO INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE It is not every day that you get to envision and develop helmets for the world's best athletes. When we did, one thing was certain, we weren't going to compromise. After close to four years of research and development, we are extremely proud to launch two class leading racing helmets, primed for the most demanding pro peloton riders, cross country racers and elite triathletes. This is the story of how one of these helmets, the Cadence PLUS, came to life.

Together with Richard Kelso from the University of Adelaide, a widely renowned expert in the field of aerospace engineering and fluid dynamics, we developed the fastest possible shape for a road stage racing helmet.
To achieve class leading ventilation for both of our new high-performance racing helmets, we spent countless hours testing, modifying and re-testing prototypes in the wind tunnel. We developed the exclusive MIPS® with SCOTT AIR Technology specifically to enhance breathability and cooling the results speak for themselves.

I couldn’t be more proud and excited to have been part of developing these new helmets for our world class athletes. We were given a brief to deliver two new class leading benchmark helmets, no restrictions, no compromises. I had the great pleasure of working with an incredibly focused and passionate team. They have delivered.
My involvement in this project was to make the dream come true: non-compromise speed focused helmets with unparalleled ventilation and cool features such as MIPS with SCOTT Air Technology or a newly engineered ultra-comfortable fit system. Because I personally race every weekend, I feel that I can understand what an elite athlete needs – this helps me to engineer world class products for world class athletes.

5 We returned to the wind tunnel with yet another prototype to be sure the design did not compromise aero and ventilation performance. The helmet underwent one final design iteration before proceeding to tooling.
Coupling aerodynamic testing with ventilation testing enabled us to ensure the air flow inside and outside the helmet worked in unison, achieving class leading ventilation without compromising aerodynamic performance.

Designing a helmet is a surprisingly complex task, and designing a great helmet like the Cadence Plus takes a talented, dedicated team who understand the science behind their products. With the Cadence we were given the chance to design a helmet from a clean sheet of paper – no restrictions. This allowed us to produce a product with one single objective: pure performance without compromise.
The Cadence represents the state of the art in helmet performance. Cutting-edge science and engineering underpin every aspect of its design. It shows that it is possible to have both super-low drag and great cooling, which it achieves by making the internal and external flows work together. I’m proud to have contributed to its development.
To be able to win a world cup, every piece of the puzzle needs to fall into place - I need to be at 100% and so does the material that I ride. Being able to shape the gear that I ride by testing different helmet prototypes for countless hours and providing extensive feedback is one of the most rewarding parts of my job. It allows SCOTT to deliver the best helmets on the market and gives me that extra edge that I need to win races.

A TRADITIONAL HELMET Helmets are designed and optimized for straight impacts. They do not consider angled impacts. In an angled impact rotational violence is transferred to the head and the brain.
Often when you fall, you fall at an angle. Your head is rotated, causing rotational violence to the brain and strong potential for concussion or more severe injuries.

The arteries of many human heads were mapped and extensive pressure testing was conducted. While it certainly provided useful data on how to improve cooling of the head, our principle conclusion was that pressure on arteries is largely irrelevant when it comes to optimum comfort and fit.
Our range of fit systems have been designed using the pressure map we developed of the human head. Each system works with the anatomy of your head, applying pressure where it feels best and avoiding your head's most sensitive areas. Particular focus was placed on achieving anatomically
STEP 2: NERVE PATHWAYS It is no surprise that nerves are sensitive. The head is covered in nerve pathways, and they cannot all be avoided. By mapping the nerve pathways and in particular identifying the locations of sensitive nerve endings, our engineers were able to identify areas of high sensitivity, and areas of very low sensitivity.

THE SCIENCE BEHIND THE PERFORMANCE TAKING NO COMRPOMISES LEADS TO INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE It is not every day that you get to envision and develop helmets for the world's best athletes. When we did, one thing was certain, we weren't going to compromise. After close to four years of research and development, we are extremely proud to launch two class leading racing helmets, primed for the most demanding pro peloton riders, cross country racers and elite triathletes. This is the story of how one of these helmets, the Cadence PLUS, came to life.

Together with Richard Kelso from the University of Adelaide, a widely renowned expert in the field of aerospace engineering and fluid dynamics, we developed the fastest possible shape for a road stage racing helmet.
To achieve class leading ventilation for both of our new high-performance racing helmets, we spent countless hours testing, modifying and re-testing prototypes in the wind tunnel. We developed the exclusive MIPS® with SCOTT AIR Technology specifically to enhance breathability and cooling the results speak for themselves.

My involvement in this project was to make the dream come true: non-compromise speed focused helmets with unparalleled ventilation and cool features such as MIPS with SCOTT Air Technology or a newly engineered ultra-comfortable fit system. 5 We returned to the wind tunnel with yet another prototype to be sure the design did not compromise aero and ventilation performance. The helmet underwent one final design iteration before proceeding to tooling.
Coupling aerodynamic testing with ventilation testing enabled us to ensure the air flow inside and outside the helmet worked in unison, achieving class leading ventilation without compromising aerodynamic performance.

MIPS ® WITH SCOTT AIR TECHNOLOGY At SCOTT our mission is to protect your head. While our focus on the Centric PLUS was to bring next level cooling and speed, we never lost focus on protection. The integrated MIPS® Brain Protection System brings the latest in safety technology and the SCOTT AIR technology, a unique construction of the MIPS® system using micro perforations, adds breathability and enhanced cooling.
Designing a helmet is a surprisingly complex task, and designing a great helmet like the Cadence Plus takes a talented, dedicated team who understand the science behind their products. With the Cadence we were given the chance to design a helmet from a clean sheet of paper – no restrictions. This allowed us to produce a product with one single objective: pure performance without compromise.
The Cadence represents the state of the art in helmet performance. Cutting-edge science and engineering underpin every aspect of its design. It shows that it is possible to have both super-low drag and great cooling, which it achieves by making the internal and external flows work together. I’m proud to have contributed to its development.
To be able to win a world cup, every piece of the puzzle needs to fall into place - I need to be at 100% and so does the material that I ride. Being able to shape the gear that I ride by testing different helmet prototypes for countless hours and providing extensive feedback is one of the most rewarding parts of my job. It allows SCOTT to deliver the best helmets on the market and gives me that extra edge that I need to win races.

APPLICATION: ANATOMIC DESIGN
The arteries of many human heads were mapped and extensive pressure testing was conducted. While it certainly provided useful data on how to improve cooling of the head, our principle conclusion was that pressure on arteries is largely irrelevant when it comes to optimum comfort and fit.
Our range of fit systems have been designed using the pressure map we developed of the human head. Each system works with the anatomy of your head, applying pressure where it feels best and avoiding your head's most sensitive areas. Particular focus was placed on achieving anatomically
STEP 2: NERVE PATHWAYS It is no surprise that nerves are sensitive. The head is covered in nerve pathways, and they cannot all be avoided. By mapping the nerve pathways and in particular identifying the locations of sensitive nerve endings, our engineers were able to identify areas of high sensitivity, and areas of very low sensitivity.
