ABOUT THE EVENT Victorian Junior Regional Teams Championships The main purpose of the event is for participation, enjoyment, and development of junior players (in Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17 age groups) who are inexperienced in tournament play. Players with more experience in selection tournaments are invited to enter the Junior Open category.
Junior Coaching Session (free) There will be a free Junior Coaching Session at Warrnambool Stadium on Saturday, May 6th for any interested players. Please see details attached.
Visiting Warrnambool Warrnambool Badminton Association and Badminton Victoria are pleased to have the support of Warrnambool City Council for the event in 2017. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY •
The tournament will be conducted in accordance with the Laws of Badminton (BWF) except where modified by these conditions.
•
Entries are invited in the following age groups: Under 13, Under 15, Under 17 and Junior Open (tournament standard)
•
All players must be under the specified age on Sunday May 7th, 2017. Players may not compete in more than one age group or team.
•
All teams will comprise 4 players and its composition can be mixed i.e. 3 boys 1 girl, 2 boys 2 girls and will be ranked by ability.
•
Each team tie will consist of doubles as follows – 1 & 2, 1 & 3, 1 & 4, 2 & 3, 2 & 4, 3 & 4.
•
All matches will be best of 3 games to 21 points with no setting. Rally point scoring will be used for all events.
•
Organisers reserve the right to combine age groups if insufficient entries are received.
•
Clubs or Associations can enter more than 1 team per event. Clubs or Associations can combine to form a team.
•
Ranking: Players must be listed and ranked in order of merit for doubles.
•
Junior Open category would consist of tournament standard players of any age.
•
Entry fees are per player not per team and should be paid with entry of the team. The entry fee is $20 per player.
•
Feather shuttles will be used for all age groups. Shuttles will be allocated for each tie.
•
Players will be called upon to umpire.
•
Draws will be available on the day of the tournament.
•
All events will be completed on Sunday May 7th, 2017 and play will commence unless notified at 9:30am sharp.
•
Medallions will be presented to the winning and runner-up teams in each event.
•
The focus of the event is participation, enjoyment and development for junior players who are inexperienced in tournament play.
•
The Tournament Referee will be Sandra David.
•
All players are required to be a current member of Badminton Victoria.

JUNIOR COACHING SESSION Saturday 6th of May, 2017 12:00 PM – 4:30 PM Warrnambool Badminton Stadium COST: FREE (Includes Lunch – sandwiches and drink) To coincide with the 2017 Victorian Regional Team Championships, Warrnambool Badminton Association, in partnership with Badminton Victoria, will be offering a coaching session for interested juniors on Saturday May 6th, from 12:00 PM – 4:30 PM at Warrnambool Stadium. The session will be under the guidance of Brandon Olver, NCAS Level 1A Coach and past Victorian Junior and Senior representative and coach of U17 Victoria Demons last year. Current Victorian representatives will be assisting with coaching and play an exhibition match at the end of the training session. This is a great opportunity to train with players from other associations, as well as learn from different coaches. Badminton Victoria and Warrnambool Badminton will be sponsoring the session, so participation is free. Lunch will be also provided on the day (includes sandwiches and a drink).
