2017 WEST COVINA YOUTH PONY BASEBALL ALL-STAR PLAYER/PARENT COMMITMENT AGREEMENT WCYPB is beginning the 2017 All-Star player nomination process and we’d like you to consider your eligible player. The All-Star player selection is done by draft and all nominated players are evaluated equally by the divisional managers. Each All-Star team from WCYPB will play a minimum of 3 tournaments: WCYPB Annual Invitational (schedule for June 2017) and two (or more) PONY All-Star Sanctioned Tournaments. Additional tournaments may be considered by the team manager as long as they do not conflict with PONY sanctioned tournaments and they have full participation from the team. Funding for these additional tournaments will be the responsibility of the team and can be paid for through fundraising efforts, or a per player expense. It is an honor to be selected to represent the City of West Covina and WCYPB and we hope you will consider this opportunity seriously. In order to be placed on an all-star team, WCYPB requires a commitment from both the player and their parents. Please read and initial the following eligibility statements: _________: I understand that if my child was selected to play on a 2016 All-Star team and dropped, my child is ineligible to participate in this process. I understand that if I was a manager or coach and dropped from a 2016 All-Star team, I am ineligible to coach for the 2017 season. Please read and initial the following eligibility statements: _________: If my child is selected to play on an All-Star team and we elect not participate in the 2017 All-Star season, my child becomes ineligible to participate in the 2018 All-Star season. Please read and initial the following volunteer service commitment statements: ______ We will support the league and provide service hours during the tournaments hosted at our home fields. Service will include field maintenance and snack bar coverage during pre-all-star tournaments and PONY sanctioned tournaments hosted at WCYPB. Please read and initial the following team / league commitment statements: ______ We are committed to the team for all practices and games. It is understood that the manager may choose to practice 4 – 5 times per week in preparation for the tournaments. Game schedules may not be known until a few days before a tournament begins. PONY Sanction tournament play provides each team with the possibility of qualifying to play through and/or beyond the first week of August. Absences from team events must be verifiable and communicated to the team manager (verifiable: illness, school events, religious events or emergencies). This is a team sport and individual absence from team events impacts the entire team and can hinder morale and performance. Absence from team practice or games due to conflicting Travel Ball commitments will not be an excused absence. All-Star teams are competitive and all players may not play in all games, nor are they guaranteed specific playing time. It will be the goal of each team manager to develop each player to be able to play at the competitive tournament level. We are aware of the personal expense of uniforms and travel. All selected WCYPB All- Star players will be provided with a team jersey and hat. The added expense of uniform pants, socks, belts, travel, lodging, food, etc. is the responsibility of the parents. Fundraising efforts and/or team sponsorships may be used to assist in offsetting these expenses. Expenses may exceed $500.

Manager: Please keep accurate written records of player absences and or disputes with players or parents for future consideration during All Star selections. Please attach any written records to this form and return to WCYPB.
