Safety

Background Checks If you are on field you need a background check. • All local Little League programs in the United States are required to conduct national criminal background checks, in addition to a search of the Department of Justice National Sex Offender Registry, for each volunteer with regular service to the league or repetitive access to children • The Little League International provider for background checks starting in 2018 is J.D. Palantine (JDP) • Little League Rule - Regulation I (c), section 8 and 9 (Green Book, page 27)

Field Decorum Official Little League Rule: Regulation XIV - Field Decorum (Green Book p. 55) • (a) The actions, on or off the field, of players, managers, coaches, umpires, and league officials must be above reproach • (e) The possession and/or use of firearms, tobacco products, cigarettes (including e-cigarettes and vapors), controlled substances and alcoholic beverages in any form is prohibited on the playing field, benches, or dugouts. Alcohol is prohibited at the game site. Seattle Municipal Code: • SMC 18.12.255 - Liquor offenses: “It is unlawful in a park to consume, or to possess an open container holding, or to open a container holding liquor…”

Equipment

2018 USA Bat Standard • WHAT: Only bats that bear the USABat licensing mark will be permissible for play. • Baseball Green Book, page 66, Rule 1.10: • “The bat must be a baseball bat which meets the USA Baseball Bat standard (USABat) as adopted by Little League.“ • USA Baseball marking • 2 5/8” barrel maximum

• WHY? The new bats are designed to perform much like wood. USA Baseball’s national member organizations believe that a woodlike performance standard will best provide for the long-term integrity of the game. • Questions? http://littleleague.org/batinfo

Where did our old bats go? In partnership with the Seattle Mariners and Nelson Cruz, our used equipment, including 120 bats, was donated to kids in the Dominican Republic.
