22 May 2014 Dear Parents/Caregivers Last Friday we said goodbye to Fr Peter with some cake and a soccer game. We thank Fr Peter for all he has celebrated with us and wish him well with his move to Charters Towers. Tomorrow Farewell Fr Peter our students will be a%ending mass with our new parish priest Fr Francis. What a fabulous Under 8s Day on Tuesday! A very big thank you to Angela and Margy for all of their work in ensuring our Under 8s had a fabulous day. Thank you also to all of our staff and Year 4 -7 students for ensuring our Tuesday’s Marvellous Manners Course Under 8s had a special day. I’m confident our visitors from Hughenden Kindy also had a fantas4c morning with us. I am currently a%ending the APRE Conference on Magne4c Island. We have been focusing a lot on the role scripture plays in our new Religion Curriculum. I look Daniel and Meg at Under 8s Day forward to returning to school and sharing this informa4on with our staff. We have another busy week ahead next week. On Monday we will welcome Juanita Wiggins to our St Francis family, on Tuesday we have school photos and on The Bruce Family at Under 8s Day Wednesday we will be having a free dress day for State of Origin and a Japanese tuckshop special! We also have a Show Holiday next Friday. Have a great weekend.

Class In The Spotlight

Term 3 Commences

This week the Year 2/3/4 class is in the spotlight. Please join us for assembly in their room from 8:45am. You are also welcome to join our whole school for mass to welcome Fr Francis at 9:30am in the church.

This week we say goodbye to Jake Williams. We thank Jake for being a wonderful St Francis student and wish him, Lisa and Rob all the best with their move to Canberra.

Juanita Wiggins has accepted the role of St Francis School secretary. Juanita will begin her new role with us on Monday 26 May. Shannon Morris will commence her leave next Friday 30 May. Well done to Dakota Gough who was selected as a shadow for the North-West Soccer team in Mt Isa last weekend.

Last week we said goodbye to Fr Peter with some cake! Fr Peter is moving to Charters Towers tomorrow.

Please return school photo envelopes to the office by no later than Friday 23 May. If you wish to get a sibling photo please call into the office and collect a Family envelope. Please remember on the day of the photos your child must be in full academic uniform as follows: ♦ Girls formal dress, Black shoes, white socks ♦ Boys formal shirt, Navy pants, black shoes, white socks

Just a reminder that next Friday 30 May is Hughenden Show Day Holiday.

The cooler weather has come early this year so could you please ensure that your child has the correct jumper and tracksuit pants on. There are school jumpers available at the school office to purchase as well as a couple of second hand ones. The Church community will be catering at the show on Friday 30 May to Sunday 2 June. If you are able to volunteer some 4me in the canteen over these days, especially on the Saturday aGernoon and evening that would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise dona4ons of SpagheH Bolognaise Sauce or Sweet Curried Mince or Savoury Mince would be really helpful. Please contact Terressa Ford if you can help in any way. Dona4ons of party goods/food would also be appreciated to add to our “Party Wheelbarrow Raffle”.

Our classes are con4nuing to care for their areas. 5/6/7 have been busy caring for the Bush Tucker Garden. 5/6/7 have been trying to keep the weeds from growing back and keeping the garden 4dy.
