God has placed an incredible opportunity in front of me that I want to share with you. A group from my youth ministry at church is traveling to Guatemala on a mission trip in April of 2017. God has opened up for us an incredible opportunity to meet both the physical and spiritual needs of the people of Guatemala. We will be helping with a variety of activities, from building 3 houses for families in need, to building ovens, to constructing working restroom faciliites for several homes, to leading a daily Bible School for children, and other incredible outreach opportunities. We are working with a mission organization called Catalyst Resources International (CRI). We stay in an area of Guatemala City known as San Cristobal, and we will be working about an hour away on the side of the volcano Pacaya in a small village called Concepcion El Cedro. We are incredibly excited about these opportunieis, and looking forward to the way God will work in us and through us. Our motto as we prepare and go on this trip is “Seek… Serve… Share.” We want to SEEK God and opportunities to SERVE so that we can SHARE His love and our lives with other people. I know God has brought our team together for a purpose, and I am so excited to see how God will use me as an instrument of His love and hope. I also look forward to seeing God work on my heart and stretch my life in new and incredible ways. This is going to be a huge commitment on my part. But I really want to be part of this experience because I know God has some incredible things planned for my life through this trip. I wanted to ask if you would help me in a couple of ways. First, I need people praying for me safety and health, and that God will use me to touch someone’s life. Also pray for the people we will be working with, that they will see Christ through the way we serve and love them. Secondly, would you consider financially helping me be part of this mission trip? The cost of this trip is $1800. Any amount you could contribute would be greatly appreciated. I have enclosed a self addressed stamped envelope that you can use to mail your support back to our church. Checks should be made out to “Shelby Christian Student Ministry” with “FOR (INSERT NAME) MISSION TRIP” in the memo. These contributions are also tax deductible, and I can provide you with a contribution statement for your tax records. We are asking all support to be sent in by March 15, 2017.
