2.3GHz-2.7GHz Power Amplifier (High-Power) Introduction The PA2420 is a high-efficiency three-stage linearized power amplifier optimized for WiMax Band-1 applications in the 2.3 to 2.7 GHz band. The device is designed to use minimal external components and to operate from a single 3.3V supply. It features 32 dB of gain and delivers up to +29 dBm of output power. The device is sold in a standard QFN package to make automated assembly simple. Its small size makes the device an ideal solution for radios built in small form factors. Features • 2.3 to 2.7 GHz Operating Range • 32 dB Gain • Better than 10 dB input and output return loss • 4.4% EVM at Pout=+22 dBm with Icc = 190 mA @ 3.3V (Efficiency=25%) • 2.2% EVM at Pout=+22 dBm with Icc = 190 mA @ 4.0V (Efficiency=21%) • On-chip power detector • +3.3V Single Supply • Standard QFN Package

PA2420 Application Note

Specified data in datasheet is evaluated with configuration below. However, fine tuning may be required due to difference in the actual product board layout. Evaluation PCB design will be provided upon request. It is very important to make all RF and DC connections before applying RF or DC power. Use short, shielded twisted pair test leads to avoid interference. Always wear an ESD wrist strap when handling RF IC.

Note: Data were taken at both Vcntl= 2.75V (R3 = 0 Ohm) and Vcntl= 2.95V (R3 = 50 Ohms).
