It all began in 1959, the son of a Sicilian immigrant, and an injured Construction worker, was made to find another way to feed his family of five. So, with not much money in their pockets and a lot of hard work, Vincent and Elva Gueli managed to build a successful Pizzeria.

It began in Royal Oak, Michigan with Chi Chi’s Pizzeria, where Vincent and Elva served the highest quality pizza, sub and Italian dishes. They then decided to move closer to home, Hazel Park, where they opened the 1st Nick’s Pizza (Named after Vincent’s father). Nick’s Pizza remained in Hazel Park where many, many very satisfied customers enjoyed the high quality food that was always provided. They then decided to expand to Roseville, where the same high quality Pizza was served.

Finally, in 1980, Vincent and Elva moved to Tawas City, where the final Nick’s Pizza opened its doors. They worked there, barring Vincent’s falling off the ladder in the pre-opening reconstruction, lung cancer, and heart problems (nothing could stop them), for 10 years, and finally decided it was time to relax and enjoy their lives.
