Schedule 2 to the Act was implemented when the new KZN Gaming & Betting Act came into effect on 01 April 2011. The fees listed therein have not been amended for approximately 18 years. Fees have been proposed for some sectors of the gambling industry which appear to have been exempted from paying fees entirely. These sectors have been aligned with all the other sectors of the industry. Some fees have been increased to cater for the increased workload incurred in administering the particular application involved and some have remained static or been reduced where the sector may not be in a position to sustain an increase or the Board has adopted a strategy to promote particular applications in this Province.
BACKGROUND TO PROPOSED AMENDMENTS
Interested parties may furnish comment and or make submissions to the Gaming and Betting Directorate by 30 November 2012 by post to P.O. Box 101, Pietermaritzburg, 3200 or electronically to [email protected]. This period has been extended for submission of comment to the KZN Gaming and Betting Board by no later than close of business on Monday, 31 December 2012. Such comment or submission should be addressed to the CEO and submitted electronically to [email protected], posted to Private Bag X9102, Pietermaritzburg, 3201 or hand delivered to Umhlanga Office, Nollsworth Office Park, 3 Nollsworth Crescent, La Lucia, 4051. If any document is posted or hand delivered an electronic copy should also be mailed to the Nandi Ngema as well.
