Jessiana Aaron of C-A led all scorers with 14. Owosso was lead by Riane Ochodnicky's 9 points, followed by Anna Raffaelli's 6, then Kate Jones' 5. Raffaelli and Brooke Edington worked the boards hard grabbing 5 rebounds apiece. Jones and Brittany Barone contributed 2 assists each as well. Owosso was an impressive 10 for 12 from the free throw line. BOYS’ BASKETBALL – Owosso 37, Kearsley 50 - The Trojans lost a hard fought battle to Flint Kearsley on Tuesday night 50-37. It was a tough shooting night for the Trojans who shot 16 of 56 from the field and failed to make a single 3-point shot in 14 tries. Drake Nover led the Trojans with 13 points and Jordan Klapko with 10 points. The Trojans won the all of the statistical categories in the game with the exception of FG shooting percentage and FT shooting. The Trojans outrebounded the Hornets 34-32 (and getting 16 offensive boards to Kearsley’s 6 offensive rebounds) The Trojans had an advantage in steals at 138, blocks 3-0, and turnovers 13-16. Unfortunately, the 19 more shots the Trojans took did not produce more points than the Hornets. Owosso 52, Clio 49 - Jacob Ackley capped off the regular season of his senior year with a career high 29 points on 9 of 14 from the floor and knocking down 4 3-pointers. Midway through the fourth quarter when the game was tight and Jake was feeling a little tired from the effort put forth in the game he told Coach Owens, "I just need to keep shooting". With the exception of Jake shooting, the Trojans did struggle from the floor but they played solid defense throughout the game and made it difficult for the Mustangs to score. In the second straight game, the Trojans won practically every statistical category in the game. The Trojans out rebounded the Mustangs, had more steals, fewer turnovers, had ten more shots, and made one more free throw. Owosso 44, St. Johns 57 - The Trojans were led by seniors Jake Ackley (12 points), Drake Nover (12 points), and Nate Nicevski (8 points). They finished the season 6-15. The Trojans were 1-9 after their first 10 games and finished the final 11 games at 5 and 6. A huge thank you goes out to the four seniors and their parents who gave so much to the Owosso basketball program over the past four years. Jakob Ackley, Nate Nicevski, Drake Nover, and Garrett Walworth. Thanks for representing Owosso so well!
