3rd General Membership Meeting- June 18, 2014
CALL TO ORDER League President, Rolando Allen, called the meeting to order at 7:01 pm at Denbigh Community Center. Executive Board Members present: Rolando Allen, Chuck Williams, Kelly Latham, Jane Murray, Charlie Cheaney, Troy Bryant, Kevin Kovac, and Amie McEnulty, Chris Harris, Todd Gillespie. INTRODUCTIONS League President, Rolando Allen introduced the 2014 Executive Board Members and recognized all division coordinators and presented each with a plaque. MINUTES APPROVAL League Secretary, Crystal Gillespie presented and read the 2014 1st General Membership Meeting Minutes voted on and approved by the membership. A copy of the approved minutes will be posted on the league website. REGOGNITION OF SPONSORS: Vise President, Chuck Williams, recognized all this years sponsors for the league, recognized all the division winners’ sponsors and presented plaques to those sponsors in attendance. Those included Bob’s Storage, Denbigh Law Center, 84 Lumber, and the NN Elks Lodge. REPORTS 1. Treasures Report-Kelly Latham presented a brief description of operation expenses including registration income, sponsorship income, storage, insurance, field maintenance, uniform, and umpire expenses. He reported the outstanding balance and stated that we should be financially ready for next year and thanked everyone for participation in the fundraiser. 2. Player Agent- Charlie Cheaney was not in attendance so therefore Moose Spencer presented the report, noting there were 453 total registrations and 15 drops for the spring season. 3. Uniform Manager -Kevin Kovac reported that All-Star uniforms have been issued and noted that All-Star parents shirts are available to be ordered, questions concerning uniforms and ordering would be addressed after the meeting. 4. Equipment Manager- Todd Gillespie reported on behalf of the Equipment Manager that about half of the equipment has been turned in, the 8u and most of softball. Baseball equipment turn-in will be Thursday June 20 th between 7-8 pm at Uncle Bob’s Storage. 5. 8U Operations Officer-Enrique Rios thanked all the volunteer managers/coaches, division coordinators Janice Healy (Rookie), Krista Low (JR. Rookie), Corina Rios (JR. Rookie), and players for a great season. The Phillies were the Rookie Division tournament winners. 6. Baseball Operations Officer-Troy Bryant baseball operations officer, thanked division coordinators, Jerri Anderson (Minors), Tammy Bruce (Majors), Buffy Anderson (HSP) for their assistance throughout the season. Division Tournament winners were announced as well as thanks
to the managers for the after game reports. PBUA was used for the first time in the HSP division this season and was generally satisfied with the quality of the umpires. Umpires in the major and minor division with no-shows try to resolve and work on for next season. 7. Softball Operations Officer-Jane Murray thanked his coordinators Sara Skaggs (8U), Amy Kovac (12U) and Sophia Allen (16U), managers/coaches for their hard work during the season. 8U softball division champions were the Astros; 12u Tigers won the championship for regular season and the tournament. He extended a special thank you to the parents of the 16u softball team for their support as the team played teams outside of the league. 8. Field Maintenance-Chris Harris thanked parents and players for their helping in maintaining the fields throughout the season. OLD BUSINESS 1. Pitch-Hit-Run: Todd Gillespie announced all the winners for each age category for the pitch hit and run competition held on opening day as well as the sectional winners held on May 4 th, at the Tides stadium. 2. Opening Day Volunteer Recognition: League Secretary, Amie McENulty thanked all the opening day parent volunteers for all their hard work and passed out cards to each parent who was present. 3. Savings Bond: Treasure Kelly Latham, drew for the $100 savings bond raffles that were purchased during registration, the winning ticket number was 01205; Rodger Dronepool. He was not present at the meeting and will be contacted to receive the savings bond. NEW BUSINESS 1. Recognition of All-Star Teams: Rolando Allen announced the All-Star players, managers and coaches to the membership for each division. 2. Election of Officers: Crystal Gillespie, nominating committee chair presented the official slate for the 2013/14 Executive Board to the membership. Moose Spencer initiated the vote process for each position starting with the nomination for president. a. Rolando Allen was nominated for President and the vote was unanimous. b. Chuck Williams was nominated for Vice-President and the vote was unanimous. c. Terry Costello was nominated for treasurer and the vote was unanimous, d. Jane Murray was nominated for secretary and the vote was unanimous. e. Moose Spencer was nominated for the position of Player Agent, and the vote was unanimous f. Kevin McEnulty was nominated for 8u Operations Officer and the vote was unanimous. g. Kevin Kovac was nominated for Softball Operations Officer and the vote was unanimous. h. Chris Harris was nominated for Baseball Operations Officer and the vote was unanimous. i. Enrique Rios was nominated for Uniform Manager and the vote was unanimous. j. Phil Miglio was nominated for Equipment Manager and the vote was unanimous. k. Troy Bryant was nominated for Field Operations and the vote was unanimous. 3. Presentation of Brock S. Banks Award: League Vise President, Chuck Williams explained the history behind the Brock S. Banks Award. It was designed for an individual as an outstanding

community service award for going above and beyond in service to your community. The award was presented to Kevin McEnulty. 4. Division Tournament Awards: Trophies were presented for the Division Tournament Championship teams in each division including Rookie, 8U SB, 12USB, Minor, Major and High School Prep. 5. Regular Season Awards: Trophies were presented for Champions/Runner-Up of the regular season divisions including 12U softball, Minor baseball, Major, and High School Prep.
