Block Assembly 1. Using the B and C strips, sew into strip sets. Press the seams toward the pink (B). Make one of each.

5. Join one of each unit from Step 4. Press the seam toward the darker blue solid sqaure (E). Make 2.

2. Cross cut each strip into (4) 5 1/4” segments. 6. Join the two halves matching the center seams. Press the seam open or to one side. 3. Sew a blue print D square to the end of two of the B/C/B segments. Make 2. Sew a blue solid E square to the end of the remaining two B/C/B segments. Make 2. D

4. Sew a C/B/C segment to each of the units made in Step 3. Sew a cream A triangle to the unit. Press the seams toward A. Make 2 of each. D

7. Trim block to 8 1/4” x 8 1/4”.

Block Assembly 1. Using the 45° line on a ruler cut the end of the B strip at a 45° angle. Measure 11/8” from the angled edge and cut 4 segments at 11/8” intervals to make the B diamonds. 1 1⁄8”

4. Trim the D triangles by marking a dot at the center of one of the 23/4” edges. Use the straight edge of the ruler and align it with the center dot and the lower right corner. Trim. Repeat to trim the other side aligning the center dot with the lower left corner. Make 4.

2. Place 2 of the C strips wrong sides together and trim one end at a 45° angle. Repeat with the remaining C strips to cut 4 pairs. Wrong Sides Together

3. Sew a C strip to the end of each B diamond. Press toward the diamond.

5. Sew the remaining C strips to a long edge of the D triangles. Press toward D and trim the dog ear. Make 4.

7. Trim the corner A squares by measuring and marking a dot at 25/8” from the upper left corner on 2 adjacent sides of the A squares.

9. Sew an A kite shape to the side of a diamond/ triangle unit matching the point of A with the tip of the diamond. Press the seam toward A. Repeat to make 4.

10. Sew the units made in step 9 into pairs. Match the center seams and sew the pairs together to complete the block.

8. Align the ruler with the dot and the lower right corner. Trim. Repeat with the second dot and the same corner. Repeat to make 4 A kite shapes.

11. Trim to 81/4” x 81/4”.

Block Assembly

1. Fold the cream D triangles in half and crease to mark the center. Repeat with the blue E strips. Place the triangle and strip right sides together, matching the crease marks. Sew and press the seam toward the blue strip.

2. In the same manner fold and crease the cream A strips. Match the center crease with the blue strip from the unit completed in step 1. Sew and press the seam toward the blue strip. Make 1.

4. Sew the two units together to make the top of the basket. Press the seam open.

3. Using the angle of the cream triangle as a guide, trim the excess blue and cream strips. Repeat to make a second strip set, this time pressing the seams toward the cream.

9. Sew the unit completed in step 7 to the unit completed in step 8. Press the seam toward the blue and cream strip.

6. Sew the cream B strip, the blue G strips and the yellow H triangle as illustrated. Press the seams toward the blue strip. Make 1.

10. Sew the unit completed in step 6 to the unit completed in step 9. Press the seam to one side. .

11. Sew the basket top to the basket bottom and trim the top half of the block to 8 1/4” x 8 1/4”.
