38th PACIFIC CUP SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT 2017 Softball Skills Competition Page | 1 Hitting Challenge: • Gain points by hitting the ball (in the air) to specific areas of the field. • Each batter can only swing 7 times over a maximum of 10 pitches. • Point value is based on when the ball initially hits the ground. o If the ball lands on a line, the higher point value is given (homeruns: ball must clear fence) • •

Participants may provide their own pitcher. Tiebreaker: Fewest number of pitches, followed by fewest number of 1-point hits Women’s Right-Handed

38th PACIFIC CUP SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT 2017 Softball Skills Competition Page | 3 Throwing Challenge: • The objective is to throw a softball as close to home plate as possible. • Points will be awarded based on distance and accuracy of the throw. • Participants will receive 9 throws (3 throws from each distance and side of field). • Tiebreaker: Most throws landing in the highest point value zone (until tie is broken). 38th PACIFIC CUP SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT 2017 Softball Skills Competition Page | 5 Base Running Challenge: • The objective is to have the fastest combined time between the two disciplines: o 1st discipline - Home plate to first base o 2nd discipline - From homeplate to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and then back to home plate • • • • •

The two times will be added together and the fastest overall time is declared the winner. Runner will begin with front foot on the plate. Clock will begin on the runner’s first move. Runners must touch each base in the appropriate order. Tiebreaker: Fastest “2nd discipline” time

Fielding Challenge: • The objective is to cleanly field the most balls and make an accurate throw to first base. • Participants will get 10 attempts. • Points will be awarded for the following: o 1 point = cleanly fielded ball o 1 point = throw caught by first baseman (that is still touching the bag) • • • •

Maximum number of points = 20 points. Balls will be “hit” between the 3rd and 2nd base bags. Participants may supply their own first baseman. Tiebreaker: Completed in the shortest amount of time.
