“Without God, there is no virtue, because there’s no prompting of the conscience. Without God, we’re mired in the material, that flat world that tells us only what the senses perceive. Without God, there is a coarsening of the society. And without God, democracy will not and cannot long endure. If we ever forget that we’re one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under. President Ronald Reagan, 1984 at the Ecumenical Prayer Breakfast in Texas.
The Cutting Edge… As I sit down to write my first “official” newsletter column as the Director of Missions, once again our Nation is reeling from another shooting. This morning, at a Congressional baseball team practice, a lone gunman opened fire injuring four people. I thought, “When is this craziness going to end?” The sad truth is that unless there is some God-sized intervention, this destructive behavior will increase. Does that grieve your spirit? Does that break your heart? My fear is that we will (if we not already have to some degree) become numb to the “breaking news” that interrupts our lives. This world cannot afford for God’s people to become desensitized to the incredible needs all around us. Know this: if God is going to do a God-sized intervention, it will be through His people. We have the answer to the craziness and evil rearing its head in our culture. Christians, we are called to be Jesus’ disciples, who are making disciples, who will make disciples, and so on. That is the answer to the sin problem in our world. And by the way, that is the ONLY answer. The Hebrew people were to be a blessing to “all the families of the earth.” That was God’s promise to Abram in Genesis 12:3. They were to bring God glory by the way they lived. By that, people would be drawn into a right understanding of God and receive blessings. The Hebrew people did not honor God in their lives. They turned their focus to themselves. They became selfish. They forget God. God so loved the world that he sent his Son so that the world could be saved through him. Jesus came that we might have abundant life. Those in his family are to be salt and light, not just for ourselves, but for all mankind. I love the way Paul says it in 2 Corinthians 5:20, “Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ…” Our lives as Christians should be all about making our lives all about Jesus for the sake of those who do not yet know him as Savior and Lord. All too often, the family of God spends their time arguing, fusing, and breaking fellowship with one another over minor things while the world around us is blowing up. And we, then, have the nerve to ask, “What is wrong with this world?” Read the passage below and pray about what God would have you do.
“Enlarge the place of your tent, and let the curtains of your habitations be stretched out; do not hold back; lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes. For you will spread abroad to the right and to the left, and your offspring will possess the nations and will people the desolate cities.” Isaiah 54:2-3. This world is crying out for help. Do you hear? How will you respond? Rev. David Foster, DOM

TO GOD BE THE GLORY . . .
Rallying Together for One of our Local Pastors. Rev. Clayborn Faircloth who helped to build ramps years ago found himself in need of one. Many people came together to meet this need. A very special Thank You to the team that built the ramp: Tommy Davis, Walter Hester, Joe Jackson, Andy Hood, Horace Wayett and Miss. Reagan Hester.
TO GOD BE THE GLORY . . .
You shall surely give to him, and your heart should not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing the LORD your God will bless you in all your works and in all to which you put your hand. Deuteronomy 15:10 2017 Baptist Children’s Home Food Round Up was truly blessed by the outpouring of blessings that so many of our churches delivered to the Association Office. Non-perishable food items along with various gift cards totaling $3,294.96. Your generosity was overwhelming and truly brought joy to the lives of many children. To God Be the Glory!!
