“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or
even touched. They must be felt with the heart.” -Helen Keller
The Lincklaen Shamrocks have had a busy fall this year. Elected as officers for President, are Maria Groetz & Cady Webb. Our Vice president is Ethan Baker and the Treasurers are Patrick Linck & Logan Webb. The Photographers are Emerson Brothers & Ella Baker. There are 13 members in the Lincklaen Shamrocks 4-H group. For community service we donated money and walked in the crop to end hunger in our community and our world. For Thanksgiving we built and wrapped the boxes for the hungry in our community. We have also been busy learning how to make apple pies and apple dumplings. This activity was very rewarding because we were able to make and eat them for dinner. We also made fall center pieces which was really fun. Recently we made long bows and wooden arrows out of pvc pipes, silicone rods, and oak dowel rods. After we made the bows and arrows, our 4-H leader told us about bow safety and the differences between long bows and compound bows. Then we went outside to shoot on a target and if you hit the target you would get a prize! We are planning on doing more community service, woodworking and baking projects throughout the year.

According to the Statistic Brain Research Institute: 74% of people suffer from speech anxiety. 4-H provides programming so youth can be comfortable speaking in public. The Public Presentation Program is one of 4-H’s most beneficial and rewarding experiences. It is the one most often credited by 4-H alumni as having given them an edge above peers in both college and professional careers. Dr. Heather Stassen-Ferrara from Cazenovia College will discuss presentation structure and keeping the audience's attention. If you are interested in becoming a better public speaker this workshop is for you.

life.”
As a 4H group that grew up with Kaitlynn and rode with her during lessons, horse shows, and other fun events, we wanted to help raise money for her and her mom during a hard time in their life. Donations will be used for school loans, helping keep her horse happy and healthy, and anything else they could possibly need. They both lost someone very dear to them in a tragic, unexpected accident and we all want to help support them during this time. Even the smallest donation would mean to the world to everyone that knows KP and her family. Our goal is to help them and make them smile.

Wrapping at the Morrisville State College Rehab Center By Kav Young The Morrisville College Equine Rehabilitation Center, hosted the November 10th clinic. All who attended learned about wrapping horses’ legs, with polo wraps as well as standing wraps and bandages. The most important point that was made was making sure you always wrap the tendons to the back and you don’t tighten across them, always tighten on the front of the cannon bone. This prevents bowing of the tendon which could create a lifetime disability for the horse. Another point that was made was when wrapping with polos, you The Upside down V. need to wrap under the fetlock for support. This is accomplished by wrapping a figure eight around the horse’s leg, which creates an upside down V on the front of the leg. The best part of this clinic was that we actually got to wrap on real horses! Thank you so much Mrs. Kelley, Mr. Cranwell, and all the college students for their time.
Wrapping at the Morrisville State College Rehab Center By Maryellen Coleman
The Young Riders 4-H club went to visit the Equine Rehabilitation Center at Morrisville State College. Mr. Cranwell and some of his students helped to teach the 4-hers how to put on polo and standing wraps. We then got to try ourselves on some of the horses. We were really impressed by how good the race horses were while the beginners were putting on the wraps. Overall, we all learned a lot and had a ton of fun. We hope to come again as a 4-H group to learn some more about what the Morrisville students do on an everyday basis at the Equine Rehabilitation Center.

Local Government Intern Program The Local Government Intern Program (LGI) is in full swing. The LGI program provides opportunities for Madison County students to understand the organizational structure of county government, the importance of civic engagement and the multitude of career opportunities available within the county. In November, the students got a tour of the Highway Department and County Court. The students were able to sit in on two criminal court cases. During a Town of Supervisors Board Meeting the students were able to sit with a Supervisor and see Robert’s Rules in action. By seeing everything in action they had a better understanding of how a local government operates.
“I feel like teens my age don’t know much about Madison County jobs or what Madison County has to offer. The LGI program is a great experience, I truly learned a lot.” - LGI Student
