Basketball is simply a way of life for junior Kaitlyn Geers. Kaitlyn has been on the court since her days in early elementary school basketball camps, and she has not been off the court since. She has not only played ball for Kent City school teams from fourth grade on, she has represented the Kent City basketball program at the summer Oakridge league for three years and in the Courthouse and MVP leagues the past few seasons. Fourth grade is also the time Kaitlyn began playing on AAU and AYBT teams, and she has done that every year as well. Over the years, Kaitlyn has made many memories and met many people. She really enjoyed her time with her AAU team this past year in Nashville, especially shopping for cowgirl boots while there. Kaitlyn will never forget the many conversations she has had with her teammates over the years and appreciates all the different things each team has taught her that she will never forget. Of course, Kaitlyn only seems to be on the court 24/7, but we know that is not true as she plays volleyball in the fall and runs track in the spring. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes and will be on the 2017 student council. After graduating from Kent City, Kaitlyn will attend Saginaw Valley State University to continue her basketball journey while majoring in athletic training to pursue a path in orthopedic or sports physical therapy. Kaitlyn is the oldest of Rob and Lynelle Geers’ four children. Her family is her support system, and Kaitlyn thanks them for all the time and effort they have given her to learn and play the game she loves.
