Pier Half Marathon A portion of the beach is home to the Snowy Plover, an endangered shorebird. As a result, no dogs will be allowed on the beach. In addition, participants and spectators are required to stay on the hard packed sand.

REGISTRATION PRE-REGISTRATION will be taken from May 1st through July 14th at the Morro Bay Recreation & Parks Department. MAIL-IN REGISTRATION deadline is Friday, July 7, 2017 or until filled. Only checks will be accepted for mail-in registration, do not send cash. ON-LINE REGISTRATION can be done at www.runsignup.com from May 1st through July 13th at 5:00pm or until full. Our event is listed at: https:www.goo.gl/TEJgIM CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS will be accepted in person during the preregistration period or on-line only. Only checks and cash will be accepted during race-day registration. RACE PACKETS will be available at the Morro Bay Recreation and Parks Department on Friday, July 14th from 4:00–7:00 PM and on Saturday, July 15th from 6:30-8:15 AM at Morro Rock.
ABOUT THE RACE The race will begin promptly at 8:30 AM- low tide is .08 at 9:45 AM. The 13.1 mile race is run primarily on the beach with a 1 mile detour from the beach on the return trip. As this is a beach run, there will be debris and rocks on the beach. Shoes are strongly recommended. COURSE: Start at Morro Rock and proceed on the beach to the Cayucos Pier. After circling the pier, participants will return on the beach towards Morro Bay. At approximately 10.6 miles participants will exit the beach through soft sand at the Azure St Beach Access and complete a 1 mile paved loop through Cloister’s Park before returning to the beach at Azure Street (again through soft sand). From Azure Street the remainder of the run will be on the hard packed sand to the finish at Morro Rock. The course will close at 11:30 am. There is a 3 hour time limit. AGE GROUPS: There will be 12 age groups: 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+ . AWARDS: The overall winners will be announced at 10:30 AM at Morro Rock. Awards will be given to the top 3 finishers in each category and will be available at the awards tent starting at 10:30 am. BREAKFAST: Breakfast will be served at Morro Rock after the race.

RELEASE AGREEMENT: In consideration of the acceptance of my application for entry into the above event, I hereby waive, release and discharge any and all claims for damages for death, personal injury or property damage which I may have, or which hereafter accrue to me, against the City of Morro Bay as a result of my participation in the event. This release is intended to discharge the City of Morro Bay, its officers, officials, employees, agents and volunteers, any other involved municipalities or public agencies from and against any and all liability arising out of or connected in any way with my participation in the event, even though that liability may arise out of the negligence or carelessness on the part of persons or the City of Morro Bay mentioned above. I further understand that accidents and injuries can arise out of the event; knowing the risks, nevertheless, I hereby agree to assume those risks and to release and to hold harmless all of the persons or agencies mentioned above who (though negligence or carelessness) might otherwise be liable to me (or my heirs or assigns) for damages. It is further understood and agreed that this waiver, release and assumption of risk is to be binding on my heirs and assigns.
