Overwhelm. Ahh, it’s 2015 and we’re all so familiar and sometimes even attached with this unpleasant and destructive state of mind. It may seem like an oxymoron, but it is possible and extremely productive to speed up while calming down – here’s why.

Overwhelm kills productivity. Ever notice how when you’re most overwhelmed you find yourself doing the most ridiculous tasks or nothing at all? Nothing kills productivity faster than overwhelm. Overwhelm hinders creativity. Overwhelm takes up so much mental real estate that it overrides our incredible mental faculties: imagination, will, reason, perception, memory and intuition. Mental hurry creates chaos. Productivity and chaos are polar opposites. You will never reach your full potential or a superior level of excellence while allowing yourself to feel overwhelmed. A clear mind performs at a higher level. Can we all just relax? Set goals, make a to-do list, take it all one step at a time. Calmness advocates positive action. Whereas overwhelm produces a paralyzing effect, when we’re calm we have the mental acuity to focus, make decisions and build momentum with action.
Not only will a calm, clear and relaxed mind improve your productivity – it will improve your quality of life. As you eliminate chaos and overwhelm from your life, you’ll find yourself enjoying the journey to fulfillment rather than resenting it.
