5K Walk to end Modern Day Slavery

Join the fight against human trafficking—Walk for those who cannot walk for themselves. Mission of Mercy, a member of the Michigan Human Trafficking Task Force, invites you to join them in the fight against human trafficking. There are 2.4 million men, women, and children living in slavery around the world today (UNODC, 2012). Many of these people are sexually trafficked, exploited as prostitutes, and forced into a life of sexual slavery. The injustice of human trafficking knows no bounds: it affects people of every age, race, religion, gender, ethnicity, and nationality. Slavery is a problem in the United States as well. There are at least 100,000 children in the US living in sexual slavery right now (National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, 2010). These children are physically and sexually abused, and forced to endure being raped multiple times each day. We cannot stand by and allow this travesty to continue.
