Welcome to 5th Grade! Dear Fifth Graders, Congratulations! You have arrived. I am tremendously excited to start this phenomenal year with you. Here are a few things you should know to help you better prepare for your journey.
Student Data Notebook – You will set goals for STAR Math and Reading. You will also keep track of your assessments on Mastery Connect. The data gathered will be graphed to show results of your goals.
EPS – Teacher Website and Instagram - It is located at www.enidpublicschools.org – Eisenhower School. Click 5th Grade and view pictures and other important classroom information – Follow us at Instagram at: Mrsoggsphenomenal5thgradeclass
Be Present, Be Mindful- You are responsible for the energy you bring into the classroom. Be aware of your attitude, your words, and your actions. Each has the ability to create a strong, positive, and successful school year.
High Expectations – In fifth grade we come prepared to learn and ready to take risks. We learn from our setbacks and set our standards high. We are here to help each other – we are a tribe.
Kindness, Compassion, and Empathy – These tools are essential to becoming a true leader. Fifth graders treat themselves and others with respect and care.
Let the adventure begin, Scholars!
Love, Mrs. Ogg
August 14, 2017 Dear Eisenhower Families, My name is April Swinnea-Ogg and I will be your child's 5th grade teacher at Eisenhower Elementary for the 2017-2018 school year. Let me share a little about myself. I am originally from Enid, born in Joliet, Illinois, and have had family ties to Eisenhower and Vance Air Force Base since I was a child. My grandfathers were employed as a mechanic and plane inspector. My fatherin-law retired from Vance Air Force Base in 1990. (Which is how I met my husband). This is my fifth year to teach and my fourth at Eisenhower. I have been married to my husband, Jason, for 20 years. We have a son, Kian, who will be a senior this year at Enid High School and a daughter, Rachel, who will be in 5th grade. I am currently working to obtain my Master's in Education. As an educator, I believe that a student-centered classroom best represents my philosophy. My goal as an educator is to create a classroom environment that inspires students and makes them eager to learn while cultivating a calm and empathic environment. It is through this respect that a foundation for learning can develop while allowing critical thinking, reflection, and metacognition to occur. I am excited to have the opportunity to work with your child this year. 5th Grade is the bridge to middle school and I will begin to introduce new ways to help them manage their time, how to collaborate, and become problem-solvers. I am looking forward to our collaboration this school year. Many thanks, Mrs. Ogg 580-366-8117
