BBYSL is a recreational and an educational organization committed to giving all eligible youth, regardless of race, color, creed or athletic ability the freedom to explore the game of softball. This exploration takes the form of programs provided by adult volunteers devoted to excellence in the areas of: Citizenship, Friendship, Leadership, Sportsmanship, and Scholarship. All coaches, parents, spectators, umpires, and players are encouraged to foster the ideals of trust, honesty, loyalty, courage, and respect for authority. 1. All Bradley-Bourbonnais Youth Softball League CODE OF ETHICS AND CONDUCT and DIVISION RULES apply. Any coach, parent, spectator, or player ejection will carry an automatic one game suspension. A second ejection will carry a minimum two game suspension with possible removal from BBYSL for the remainder of the season. Ejections are final and MAY NOT be appealed. 2. NO SMOKING is allowed anywhere on BBYSL grounds by any coach, umpire, parent, spectator, or player. First offense may carry an automatic one game suspension. A second offense may carry a minimum two game suspension with possible game forfeit and removal from BBYSL for the remainder of the season. Ejections are final and MAY NOT be appealed. 3. NO PETS are allowed anywhere on BBYSL grounds. First offense may carry an automatic one game suspension. A second offense may carry a minimum two game suspension with possible game forfeit and removal from BBYSL for the remainder of the season. Ejections are final and MAY NOT be appealed. 4. The Head Coach is totally responsible for the conduct of anyone associated with his/her team. 5. The Assistant Coaches are to assist the Head Coach in all team and league activities and may be a “designated” Head Coach in the absence of the league assigned Head Coach at practices and/or games. 6. The Home Team will occupy the 3rd Base Player Bench. 7. The Visitor Team will occupy the 1st Base Player Bench. 8. Both Teams, including all coaches, players, and parents are responsible for the general cleanup of the entire SOF-T fields and complex; all bench and bleacher areas, and the parking lot. 9. NO DELIBERATE OR MALICIOUS CONTACT by any player or coach will be tolerated. 10.NO JEWELRY. Necklaces, bracelets, rings, watches, and earrings (pierced or clip-on) are not to be worn during games or practices. NOTE: If ears have recently been pierced and starter earrings may not be removed, First Aid Tape or BandAids MUST be placed over the earrings. 11.Absolutely NO wooden bats are to be used during play or practice. 12.Only league assigned and approved Coaches, Team Players, a Scorebook Keeper, and Team Parent may be in the Player Bench area during the game. 13.All schedules and game times are determined by the BBYSL Board of Directors. 14.A SOF-T Division Team Roster may consist of a minimum of eight (8) and a maximum of (twelve) 12 players. If the Team Roster is reduced below the minimum number, the Head Coach MUST contact the Division Representative. The Board of Directors may alter the minimum and maximum number of players assigned to a team to achieve division and league goals. 15.On defense a team MAY field up to twelve (12) players: first baseman, second baseman, shortstop, third baseman, pitcher, catcher, and six (6) equally placed outfielders. Swap infielders and outfielders each inning so that every player has the opportunity to play the infield each game. 16.The catcher must remain behind home plate in the field of play and not behind the backstop. 17.Games will be 2 full innings with every player batting and playing the field. © BBYSL 5U Division Rules Page 1 of 2

18.Players should be placed in a batting order. No inning is over until the last player has taken his/her turn at bat. This is a continuous batting order and remains the same for the entire game. 19.The three (3) out rule does not apply. 20.There will be no strikeouts. Each batter will get five (5) COACH pitches from the mound area, if the ball is not put in play the batter will then hit from the tee. The batter will remain at bat until the ball is successfully put in play. The catcher should attempt to throw the ball back to the mound area. 21.Only one (1) ball is allowed in play during the (5) COACH pitches. A coach is allowed to put one or two in his/her pocket, but not on the ground. 22. Runners advance one base at a time on infield hits and up to two bases at a time on balls hit to the outfield. There are no extra bases on overthrown balls. 23. Outs may take place by making a force, a tag play, or by catching a fly ball. The infield fly rule does not apply. The offensive player/runner must return to their bench until its time to take the field. 24. When the last batter is at the plate the hitting team must announce that it is the "last batter". 25. When the last batter bats the defense must throw the ball to the catcher (not run). The catcher then must retrieve the ball and step on home plate to end the play. 26.Each player should be last batter at least once during the season. 27.Players need to be instructed on how to handle the bat properly at all times. 28.A coach must be at home plate to position batters at the tee, and remove the tee after the ball is put in play. 29.Runners may not leave base until the ball is hit. 30.We do not keep score; the philosophy of Sof-T is to teach our younger players the fundamentals of baseball/softball. 31.Coaches must display and reinforce to their players the ideals of Honoring The Game, good sportsmanship and fair play at all times. 32.Each team should practice a minimum of two (2) times per week until the season begins.
