3. Follow Directions the first time! Bathroom Policy:
Our class periods are 52 minutes long, so every minute is valuable. It is a very serious thing to miss out on class time for things like going to the bathroom or to the nurse’s office. However, it is also understandable that these incidents will reasonably come up from time to time. Each quarter, every student will receive a “bathroom pass coupon” that contains 10 passes for the quarter for any classes with Mrs. Martinez. The student may use these passes when needed throughout the quarter, but a pass must be used to go to the bathroom. It is the student’s responsibility to keep track of these coupon. Attendance & Late and Missed Work:
Attendance: This is a language class, and much student learning comes from practice and participation in class. Therefore, attendance is of vital importance! Any day that a student is absent, he or she will miss a vital learning opportunity. I will do my best to provide make-up work, but constantly being absent will result in a lower grade for the student.
Missed Work: If a student has been absent, I will allow the student one day for each day absent to complete the missing work. If a student has been absent, it is the student’s responsibility to get makeup work from me during lunch or after school.
Late Work o
Late projects or assignments will lose 10% each day.
o
Late work will ONLY be accepted within the current quarter.
o
All missing work will receive a score of 50% in the grade book and be labeled as “missing.”
Tutoring and Academic Help: Students who are behind in their work, need to retake quizzes, or desire extra help in a particular area are welcome to come to my classroom any Monday and Wednesday after school, from 3:15 – 4:00. Students staying for tutoring must have a ride home at 4:00. Lunch time and normal class time are not appropriate times for catching up. If your student has needs that cannot be met at the above times, please contact me.
