DRAFT PREVIEW

Team needs A look at what clubs are looking for this year

Buffalo

Miami

New England

New York Jets

THEY NEED: QB, LB, WR, C, LG. THEY DON’T NEED: CB, S. OUTLOOK: Difficult to see how playoff stars will align perfectly for second consecutive year with questions at quarterback, offensive line and with LeSean McCoy set to turn 30 in July.

THEY NEED: LB, TE, G, DT, QB, CB, RB. THEY DON’T NEED: DE, WR, S. OUTLOOK: Dolphins have numerous glaring needs, including vacant starting spots at outside linebacker and tight end. However, Adam Gase wants to draft quarterback to groom as Ryan Tannehill’s eventual successor.

THEY NEED: OL, LB, CB, DE, QB THEY DON’T NEED: TE, RB, WR OUTLOOK: Roster will look different following free agency departures of Malcolm Butler (Titans), LT Nate Solder (Giants), WR Danny Amendola (Dolphins), RB Dion Lewis (Titans) and trade of WR Brandin Cooks (Rams).

THEY NEED: QB, OLB/ pass rusher, D-line depth, TE. THEY DON’T NEED: S, CB, LS. OUTLOOK: It’s all about finding right quarterback after being aggressive and trading up from No. 6 to No. 3 in deal with Indianapolis in March that also cost New York two secondrounders this year and one next year.

Baltimore

Cincinnati

Cleveland

Pittsburgh

THEY NEED: WR, TE, DE, RT, CB. THEY DON’T NEED: RB, RG, S, ILB, LS, P, PK. OUTLOOK: Ozzie Newsome’s final foray as leader in draft room comes when Ravens are desperate to add talent after enduring lengthy playoff drought. Obvious need is wide receiver.

THEY NEED: C, OT, LB, DE, S. THEY DON’T NEED: P, K, LS. OUTLOOK: Trade for LT Cordy Glenn was merely first step in addressing team’s biggest problem. C Russell Bodine signed two-year deal with Buffalo, leaving hole in middle of line.

THEY NEED: QB, CB, WR, LT. THEY DON’T NEED: RB, DL, LB. OUTLOOK: Hue Jackson has been given third season — and maybe less — to win. New general manager John Dorsey was aggressive during offseason, landing QB Tyrod Taylor and WR Jarvis Landry in trades.

THEY NEED: LB, CB, RB, TE. THEY DON’T NEED: LT, C, DE. OUTLOOK: With Ryan Shazier out and 2015 first-round pick Bud Dupree’s long-term status unknown, it’s likely Pittsburgh goes to linebacker well again at No. 28 overall.

Houston

Indianapolis

Jacksonville

Tennessee

THEY NEED: LT, RT, TE. THEY DON’T NEED: QB, WR, DE. OUTLOOK: Texans desperately need to upgrade offensive line to better protect Deshaun Watson after trading franchise left tackle Duane Brown to Seattle last season. But it will be tough in draft because they don’t have pick until third round.

THEY NEED: DE, OL, LB, CB, WR, RB. THEY DON’T NEED: QB, TE, K. OUTLOOK: GM Chris Ballard wants to build through draft and has been looking to acquire extra picks to speed up process. Already pulled off deal with Jets, picking up two seconds this year and another next year.

THEY NEED: TE, G, T, QB, WR, LB, S THEY DON’T NEED: DL, C, RB, CB, P, K OUTLOOK: Tom Coughlin and general manager Dave Caldwell made several changes despite team looking for sustained success. They let WR Allen Robinson, CB Aaron Colvin, backup QB Chad Henne walk in free agency.

THEY NEED: OLB, DE, ILB, S, WR, OL. THEY DON’T NEED: LT, RB, CB. OUTLOOK: High expectations with Titans hiring first-time head coach Mike Vrabel and franchise coming off first playoff victory in 14 years. Marcus Mariota is completely healthy and already has worked with WR Corey Davis.

Denver

Kansas City

Oakland

L.A. Chargers

THEY NEED: OG, DE, CB, QB, ILB, PR. THEY DON’T NEED: S, K, P, OT, C, DT. OUTLOOK: Would seem they will push for non-QB with team’s first pick, player who can help right away rather than another quarterback who wouldn’t get on field this year after addition of Case Keenum in free agency.

THEY NEED: CB, LB, DL, S, WR, TE. THEY DON’T NEED: QB, RB, OL, P, K. OUTLOOK: Good luck trying to guess what Chiefs will do in draft. This will be first time GM Brett Veach calls shots, and trading up for Mahomes last season means he’ll do it without first-round pick.

THEY NEED: LB, CB, DT, T, RB, WR. THEY DON’T NEED: QB, G, C. OUTLOOK: Team is being remade in Jon Gruden’s vision with significant changes made in free agency. Gone are stalwarts WR Michael Crabtree; CBs David Amerson, Sean Smith and TJ Carrie.

THEY NEED: LB, DL, OL, RB. THEY DON’T NEED: WR, TE, CB. OUTLOOK: Bolstering run defense is logical step, and several athletic linebackers could supplement depth at position, which is thin behind Denzel Perryman. Another defensive lineman would be welcome, as would elite offensive lineman.

Dallas

New York Giants

Philadelphia

Washington

THEY NEED: WR, LB, S, OL, DT, TE THEY DON’T NEED: RB, CB, QB OUTLOOK: If Cowboys don’t go WR in first round, they will be counting on free agent Allen Hurns to replace Dez Bryant as No. 1 receiver. Hurns flashed potential in four years at Jacksonville, but never big numbers.

THEY NEED: QB, RB, G, DE, WR, ILB. THEY DON’T NEED: DT, S, LS. OUTLOOK: Giants haven’t had pick this high since taking Philip Rivers with No. 4 overall choice in 2004 and then packaging him and draft picks to San Diego for Eli Manning. 37-yearold Manning is still No. 1 guy.

THEY NEED: LB, RB, TE, WR. THEY DON’T NEED: QB, CB, DL. OUTLOOK: Eagles are set up to make run at becoming first team to win consecutive Super Bowl titles since New England in 2003-04 seasons. They don’t have glaring need to fill so can draft best player available with 32nd pick.

THEY NEED: RB, WR, LG, DL, LB, S, CB THEY DON’T NEED: OT, TE, K, P, LS OUTLOOK: Running back is top priority, even if not in first round. Redskins have so many holes to fill on defense they should go that side of ball in first round after top three picks last year started building process.

Chicago

Detroit

Green Bay

Minnesota

THEY NEED: OL, WR, DL, LB, DB. THEY DON’T NEED: QB, TE, P. OUTLOOK: Pace’s No. 1 offseason goal was to surround Trubisky with pieces to help lift franchise with one playoff appearance since 2006 Super Bowl season. Drafting G Quenton Nelson would fit with that plan.

THEY NEED: DE, OG, LB, DT, TE, RB. THEY DON’T NEED: QB, WR, S, T, CB. OUTLOOK: GM Bob Quinn made clear Jim Caldwell’s consecutive 9-7 records and 36 wins over four years weren’t enough to keep job, raising stakes for new coach Matt Patricia.

THEY NEED: OLB, CB, WR, S, RG, RT, TE THEY DON’T NEED: QB, LT, DL, RB OUTLOOK: Longtime personnel executive Brian Gutekunst enters first draft as general manager. Packers don’t often pick this high in first round, so Gutekunst has opportunity to take immediate contributor on defense.

THEY NEED: G, T, CB, RB, TE, LB. THEY DON’T NEED: QB, C, DE, WR. OUTLOOK: With Kirk Cousins new QB after signing record contract in free agency, Vikings focus on upgrading OL overwhelmed by Eagles’ pressure in NFC title game.

Atlanta

Carolina

New Orleans

Tampa Bay

THEY NEED: DT, WR, FB, LB, OG, DE, TE. THEY DON’T NEED: QB, RB, OT, CB, S, PK, P. OUTLOOK: Falcons feel good about starting lineup but have some holes to fill, most notably at defensive tackle with Dontari Poe moving to division rival Carolina. Receiver Taylor Gabriel also departed.

THEY NEED: DE, S, CB, RB, TE, WR, G, QB. THEY DON’T NEED: QB, DT, LB, T, K, P. OUTLOOK: Panthers need help all over after losing handful of veteran. Hurney has flexibility to take best player remaining on board. Panthers re-signed DE Julius Peppers for one more year.

THEY NEED: DE, TE, OL, DT, WR, LB. THEY DON’T NEED: RB, QB, S, CB. OUTLOOK: During free agency, Saints tried to put themselves in position to draft best players available, regardless of position. Bolstered defense by signing S Kurt Coleman and CB Patrick Robinson.

THEY NEED: CB, RB, S, DE, DT, RG, RT. THEY DON’T NEED: QB, WR, TE. OUTLOOK: With Winston entering fourth season, heat is on Koetter and general manager Jason Licht to not only escape NFC South cellar but make playoffs for first time since 2007.

Arizona

L.A. Rams

San Francisco

Seattle

THEY NEED: QB, CB, WR, TE, DL. THEY DON’T NEED: DE, P, RB. OUTLOOK: Cardinals need, and want, young QB to mold as long-term solution at position, but they need to trade up to get any of top ones. GM Steve Keim has cautioned that making that move would come at high price.

THEY NEED: LB, DL, OL, WR. THEY DON’T NEED: QB, RB, DB. OUTLOOK: For second straight year, Rams don’t have first-round pick. They sent this one to New England for WR Brandin Cooks, and they’ll be thrilled if Cooks becomes No. 1 deep threat as expected.

THEY NEED: CB, DE, LB, G, WR. THEY DON’T NEED: QB, S, DT, T. OUTLOOK: Biggest move of offseason came in long-term deal with Jimmy Garoppolo to solidify QB spot for years. Team also made several key additions in free agency led by RB Jerick McKinnon.

THEY NEED: DE, S, DT, CB, RB, WR, QB. THEY DON’T NEED: LB, K. OUTLOOK: All offseason general manager John Schneider and coach Pete Carroll have called Seattle’s overhaul retooling and not full rebuild. So Seahawks must hit in this draft.
