70th Wedding Anniversary
Mr and Mrs William Pelzer, Sr are celebrating their
70th Wedding Anniversary at their home in Whittier with family. Bill and Lina are native New Yorkers and met when they were both attending Pratt Institute. They married May 18, 1946, upon Bill’s return from the Pacific theater, where he served in the navy during WWII. As an aeronautical engineer, they moved from New York to Ohio, then California, moving to Whittier in 1964. They will be celebrating with their four children and spouses, William Pelzer, Jr (Beth), Jay Pelzer, Gary Pelzer (Kimberlin), Carol Pelzer Simpson (Paul) and several of their grandchildren. Bill retired from Rockwell in 1984. Lina went back to school in the 1960’s and earned a degree in Library Science. She retired from Whittier College in 1985. Lina was active at Saint Mary’s church and school, the Whittier College Women’s Auxiliary and is still active in PEO. Bill was an avid golfer and model airplane enthusiast. Both are very dedicated to their four children, nine grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren.
