8 WASTES IN LEAN MANUFACTURING TRAINING DURATION: 2 DAYS; TIME SCHEDULE Time - 9:00am to 5:00pm Break - 10:15am to 10.30am and 3:15pm to 3:30pm Lunch - 1:00pm to 2:00pm INTRODUCTION Lean manufacturing, lean production, or often simply "lean", is a systematic method for the elimination of waste ("Muda") within a manufacturing system. To have a finer clarification of waste is key to establishing distinctions between value-adding activity and waste (non-value-adding work). The original seven Muda (wastes) are:  Transport (moving products that are not actually required to perform the processing)  Inventory (all components, work in process, and finished product not being processed)  Motion (people or equipment moving or walking more than is required to perform the processing)  Waiting (waiting for the next production step, interruptions of production during shift change)  Overproduction (production ahead of demand)  Over Processing (resulting from poor tool or product design creating activity)  Defects (the effort involved in inspecting for and fixing defects) Latest addition of waste is:  Skills not used / under-utilized skills BENEFITS Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:  Identify the 8 Wastes  Understand the importance of correct brainstorming technique  Brainstorm thoroughly all potential causes/angles contributing to each type of waste  Appreciate the concept of Poka-Yoke as a wastes-preventive solutions  Perform effective wastes analysis at work and all aspects of life. KEY CONTENT MODULE 1 – INTRODUCTION TO  Lean Manufacturing  Kaizen  Techniques On Reducing Blind-Spots And Short-Sightedness MODULE 2 – BRAINSTORMING TECHNIQUES  Round Table  Respect  Record  Activities
