Property Description 80 Acres m/l Tea Table Rock and Home Bluff This is one of the most unique properties in the entire Ozark Mountains. Tea Table Rock and Home Bluff, where this property is located, was featured on the PBS TV show “Exploring Arkansas” with Chuck Dovish. Home Bluff occurs on the south side of a mini continental divide which follows, basically, along Arkansas State Highway 16. All the streams north of Highway 16 flow north and all the streams to the south of Highway 16 flow south. Tim Ernst, one of the most famous nature photographers in Arkansas, has stated that Home Bluff is one of his favorite areas to photograph. Many beautiful waterfalls and large Indian Shelters occur along Home Bluff. One of the shelters has a large boulder with a Latin inscription. Some scholars have speculated that the inscription was carved by Early Spanish Explorers. Archaeologists at the University of Arkansas have done several digs in these Bluff Shelters and their findings show that some of them have been inhabited for more than 10,000 years. The 1.2 million acre Ozark National Forest borders this property on three sides. A 4400 foot deeded access road leads from Highway 16 to Home Bluff and one of the best building sites. Underground electric, rural water, telephone and septic have also been installed at the building site. An extension of the access road was constructed along the bluff to the Edd French Waterfall, another fabulous building site. An Architect with the creativeness of Faye Jones would go absolutely nuts over this site. A very good, mature mixed hardwood/Pine Forest covers the entire property. Home Bluff outcrops right through the middle and runs the full length of the 80 acres. Big Piney Creek over a period of several million years has eroded out some fantastic scenery to view from Home Bluff. The Big Piney provides kayaking, canoeing, swimming and fishing. The Ozark Highland Trail is nearby and provides world class hiking. The Upper Buffalo River Wilderness area is nearby and provides some of the most rugged terrain in Mid-America. Dismal Hollow, a special interest area in the Ozark National Forest lies just across the highway from the property. Many rare trees and plant species can be found in Dismal Hollow. It is one of the very few areas in the Ozark National Forest where “old growth” timber can be found. Glory Hole and a whole host of natural features with colorful names can be found nearby to this fantastic property. Some Realtor coined the term “location, location, location”. This property truly has a fantastic location. The early Bluff Swelling Indians were the last folks to live on Home Bluff. You can be the first modern day homesteader to settle on Home Bluff in the last 10,000 years.
