THE THINGS THAT COUNT Not what you have – but what you use; Not what you see – but what you chooseThese are things that mar or bless The sum of all happiness. The things nearby – not things after; Not what you seem – but what you areThese are the things that make or break, That give the heart its joy or ache. Not what seem fair – but what is true Not what you dream – but the good you doThese are the things that shine like gems, Like stars in your life’s diadems. Not what you take – but what you give Not as you pray – but as you liveThese are the wonderful things that bless These are the things for your happiness.
