A Parent’s Guide to Giving & Getting Involved Dear Ranney Families, As an independent school, Ranney has the opportunity to provide a flexible, innovative and rich learning environment in which we can cherish and nurture each student’s unique talents and interests, cultivate lifelong relationships, advance healthy competition and inspire a balance of mind, body and character—all of which guide our students to reach their fullest personal potential. Like other independent schools, Ranney relies on the volunteer efforts and generous philanthropic support of parents, grandparents, alumni, faculty and friends to help enrich our school and provide our students with an exceptional educational experience. At Ranney, we foster a culture of giving and encourage all of our families to become fully invested in the life and work of our school. We invite you to get involved and invested. You may contribute in a variety of ways—from making a tax-deductible, annual gift to the Ranney Fund to volunteering your time in support of the Parents’ Association, athletics, the arts and the operations of the school. Your investment in our school makes possible our mission to nurture intellectual curiosity and confidence so that our students are inspired to lead honorably, think creatively and contribute meaningfully to society. We look forward to partnering with you to make the extraordinary possible for your child. All the best,
Jennifer Collins, CFRE, CFA Chief Advancement Officer

[email protected] Volunteer Opportunities Whatever your availability or interests, there are numerous ways for you to become engaged in the daily life of our school. Get Involved in the Ranney School Parents’ Association (RSPA) The Ranney School Parents’ Association partners with the school to facilitate communication, cooperation and involvement throughout the school community. The events and activities organized by RSPA offer parents the chance to socialize and network with other Ranney families. Every Ranney School parent is a member of the Parents’ Association and is welcome to volunteer for a committee, attend a meeting or participate in an event. Become an Ambassador Ranney Fund Ambassadors – Ranney Fund Ambassadors partner with the Advancement team to educate the parent community about how the Ranney Fund makes the extraordinary possible. Ranney Fund Ambassadors engage in various levels of outreach as they feel comfortable. Admission Ambassadors – Parents are our best advocates and word-ofmouth marketers. Admission Ambassadors serve as liaisons at open houses, coffees and other school events. Parent Ambassadors help to promote Ranney as part of our admission and retention process and are asked to highlight and promote Ranney School within their communities whenever possible. Grade-Level Ambassador – Grade-Level Ambassadors assist teachers in the classroom and by hosting grade-level meetings or chaperoning trips. Parents may also volunteer with the division offices to assist with administrative tasks, like photocopying and mailings. New Family Ambassador & Mentor Program – New Family Ambassadors welcome incoming families and help them become acquainted with life at Ranney School. Ambassadors are paired with a family through a buddy program by answering questions, sharing information, meeting for coffee or scheduling a playdate with peer families. Panther Parent Athletic Club (Panther PAC) – The Panther PAC supports Ranney’s Varsity, JV and Middle School teams by promoting school spirit and good sportsmanship, working to increase participation in the athletic program and by nurturing a positive relationship among parents, coaches and students. Library Volunteers – The Searle and Paulus Libraries need volunteers to assist with the day-to-day upkeep of our collections for Lower and Middle/Upper School students. Community Garden Volunteers – Parent volunteers help to maintain the organic garden located behind the Annex building by weeding, watering, planting and harvesting from early spring through the fall. Assist with Internships & Networking Upper School students and our recent graduates are looking for real-world experiences. Parents, grandparents and alumni can help by taking on an intern and/or sharing their insights into their field of expertise.
Giving Opportunities We recognize that a Ranney School education is an investment. Your tuition covers salaries and day-to-day operating expenses. However, like most independent schools, Ranney relies on charitable donations to supplement tuition and provide the margin of excellence that distinguishes a Ranney education. The Ranney Fund - Our Annual Giving Program The Ranney Fund supports Ranney School’s yearly operating and capital budgets enabling us to make transformative investments in our students. Each year, Ranney envisions dynamic and groundbreaking academic and student-life programs led by dedicated and trained professionals in a safe state-of-the-art setting. Your generosity—above and beyond tuition—makes possible:
GROUNDBREAKING PROGRAMS
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Groundbreaking & Dynamic Programs – As an independent school, Ranney has the flexibility to design curricula and student-life programs to best prepare our students to enter a dynamic global world. Ranney offers 28 athletic programs, 40 student clubs and an array of rigorous academic classes, including an emphasis on STEAM, World Languages and leadership opportunities. Professional Development – Great schools make a significant commitment to professional development for faculty. Such training fosters innovation, achievement, faculty retention and the creation of new coursework. Campus Enhancements – Maintaining and upgrading our beautiful campus to be responsive to the changing needs of our students is an ongoing and exciting process. Need-Based Financial Aid – Need-based financial aid helps make the Ranney educational experience accessible. Attending a school with an inclusive student body helps prepare children for citizenship in a socio-economically diverse, global society. Everyone in the Ranney community is asked to support the Ranney Fund each year, including current families, alumni, trustees, faculty and staff. Even our senior students make an annual gift prior to graduation. Support of the Ranney Fund directly impacts our school’s ability to deliver an extraordinary educational experience. We aim for 100% participation among our families, faculty, staff and Board members. Gifts of every level are appreciated and vital to the success of the Ranney Fund. Your participation is a vote of confidence and sends a powerful message that you believe in Ranney—our mission, our educational programs, our teachers, our coaches, our advisors and, most of all, our students.
