How it started



2006 RMS lead a 5 company consortium which purchased 5+ Million acres



7 months from purchase sale agreement to closing



RMS contracted the plotting of all legal descriptions into a GIS data set



Then analyzed the descriptions against the forest management data



This data became the base data for a new land records system

What does the RMS System look like?



ESRI SDE/SQL Server GeoDatabase



Polygons matching each unique tagged description in the vesting deed



Documents are stored in the SQL database as attachments



Many to many relationship between documents and ownership polygons



Utilize a custom ArcEngine application for users to access and load documents



Utilize standard ArcMap functionality to perform administrative task

Digital records have saved time, money, and opened access to more users



The digital data has also enabled automation of processes and communication



Spatial approach enables better organization of the records
