AMA PROACTIVE DEFENSIVE DRIVER IMPROVEMENT COURSE COURSE OUTLINE: The proactive defensive driver improvement course provides drivers with a greater awareness of the causes and consequences of unsafe driving as they pertain to their daily driving activities.
COURSE OBJECTIVES: The course explores a driver’s normal driving environment for: •
Typical hazards.
•
Driver impairments.
•
Basic vehicle maneuvers.
It then builds a collection of strategies for avoiding the hazards or for coping with them when they are encountered. This course covers topics such as the SIPDE system as it relates to specific driving environments. Drivers will be presented with information on risk management, vehicle and environmental hazards, as well as strategies to read the driving environment.
