We integrate the latest technology into all academic disciplines at all grade levels, beginning in preschool with iPads and continuing through Lower School with multimedia educational programs. In Middle and Upper School, students use technology for STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) and learn new computer applications and coding, while collaborating on problem solving.

Annual Giving is a lifeline for our School. Each year, we ask every family to give generously to Sacred Heart to support the multitude of experiences and curricular enhancements that are the hallmark of an independent school experience. While tuition is our main source of income for the operating budget, it was never designed to meet all costs. Annual Giving pays for many, much-needed items that enhance a Sacred Heart education and support our mission. A few highlights:
Benefits
Our faculty/staff participate in and present at professional growth and development conferences. Annual Giving enables our teachers to attend workshops and conferences on STEAM, in addition to other curriculum areas, such as World Languages and Theology. New skills and knowledge gained enables our faculty to provide an outstanding experience for students.
■ robotiCs
The Upper and Middle schools use NAO, a humanoid robot, for hands-on learning and an experience in using the latest technological innovations. Our Lower School uses the Lego-Mindstorms robotics program, which enables the students to develop engineering skills and to build and program real-life solutions. Barat Center students learn introductory programming through new software called “Bee-Bot.”
■ opportunities for girLs
Annual Giving provides financial assistance to exceptional and talented students, who would otherwise never have access to a Sacred Heart education and the opportunities it provides.
■ maker spaCe
Responding to the Maker movement, CSH has purchased new 3-D printers and equipped a new Maker Space. Social entrepreneurism comes alive in the Maker Space, as students engage hands-on with new technology to bring ideas to life.
Our traditional community builder and fundraiser is the biennial auction, the proceeds of which go directly to our endowment. The School’s long-range fiscal stability is dependent on our increasing the endowment fund and is one of Sacred Heart’s most important strategic goals. The endowment is a permanent fund in which only the earned income is spent and the principal is invested under the guidance of the Board of Trustees. The School’s future depends on the growth of our endowment so that we can rely less on tuition income and be more flexible in enhancing academic programs and securing faculty compensation. This will enable us to continue to retain our outstanding faculty and attract experienced new faculty.
Since 1848, our School has succeeded because of the philanthropic support of parents, the school community and alumnae. What we teach at Convent of the Sacred Heart is that giving is central to our way of life. Your examples of philanthropic giving harbor the seeds of character and commitment that can indeed help your daughters become responsible citizens and leaders. New construction, renovation projects and restricted gifts for financial aid all benefit from capital campaigns. Major gifts are typically transformative contributions in the amount of ten times the size of an annual giving donation. Gifts to endowment help secure the future of our School.
■ Come Home for CHristmas
■ CapitaL Campaign
This spectacular annual event benefits the Faculty-Staff Professional Development Fund which enhances the education of our students.
■ fatHers League goLf outing
This fun event supports the School’s Summer Outreach Program, which provides students from low-income families with opportunities for summer learning.
Gifts to “Framing Our Future: Today, Tomorrow and Forever” will provide our students with first-class facilities to match our academic excellence. Major gifts are needed to meet our goal of transforming our campus with spaces that encourage the values of faith, character, critical thinking, leadership, community, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Our current campaign seeks $25.5 million to build a new Athletic Complex, Dining Room and Outdoor Commons Area. This is the framework for our future, which builds on the legacy of an outstanding Sacred Heart education since 1848. Capital campaign gifts are typically pledged over several years to allow families the flexibility of maintaining support for Annual Giving and Benefits, while stretching to make what is for each family a capital investment in the future of Convent of the Sacred Heart.
