The Academic Achievement Center (AAC) employs professional learning specialists and peer tutors across subjects. We can help students with reading and study skills, writing for any class, and all levels of math and science. The AAC also offers a range of services for students with disabilities. Free student-based assistance in a wide range of courses. Highly successful and trained student tutors. Individual or small group tutorials available. Up to three hours of appointments per week. Walk-ins and appointments welcome.

ONLINE TUTORING All MassBay students can register for SMARTHINKING, a free online tutoring service in many different subjects, from the MassBay Blackboard site. SMARTHINKING is available 24/7. Online tutoring is limited to 10 hours per semester.



Placement Testing is required in the subjects of English and Math for all new degree-seeking students. Placement Testing must be scheduled by appointment by calling the office or by visiting www.massbay.edu/placementtesting. Free workshops and study materials are available in the AAC to prepare students for placement testing. Make-up testing services are provided by the AAC with approval from faculty. Proper photo identification is required for all testing services.

TRANSITIONAL SCHOLARS PROGRAM Wellesley Hills Campus ­- Room 207 • 781.239.2625 Offers students with intellectual disabilities, typically between 18-22 years of age, who may still be receiving special education services from their districts, the opportunity to participate in inclusive college courses (credit or non-credit) to increase their school and work success.

Students in the program develop: • • • • • •

Career-planning and employment skills. Self-advocacy skills. New life skills that will assist students in their post-secondary interests and activities. Ability to function independently on the college campus. Self-determination skills in adult settings. Knowledge to request accommodations and other services at the college.
