ACCOUNTING MANAGER
Carowinds has an immediate opening for the position of Accounting Manager in Charlotte, NC. This fulltime position will report to the Director of Finance.
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial reporting including compilations and review of income sheets, balance sheets, expenditures, and tax schedules. Maintains the general ledger, chart of accounts and cost center reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting supplemented by two to four years of progressive financial leadership experience at a mid or large-sized corporation or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. At least 18 years of age. Experience of JD Edwards a plus. Ability to pass a mandatory or random drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state or provincial law. Ability to pass a background check, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law. Proficient in Windows, Word, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises duties of assigned managerial and supervisory staff. Supervisory duties include instructing, assigning, reviewing and planning work of others, maintaining standards; coordinating activities; allocating personnel; selecting new associates; acting on associate problems; and recommending and approving associate promotions, transfers, discipline, discharge and salary increases. Also performs employee evaluations for direct reports. Establishes policies, procedures, goals and objectives for assigned areas of responsibility, determines necessary structure and manpower to accomplish goals. Ensures staffs’ compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, rules and regulations. Provides, interprets and presents company management with information needed by them to carry out their assigned responsibilities. Compiles Ad Hoc reports and analysis. Answers questions relating to financial inquiries. Produces, reviews and distributes divisional expense forecast for integrity, completeness and financial impact on operations. Reviews and posts the weekly journal entries of direct reports. Prepares weekly and adjusting e ntries to be reviewed and posted by the Finance Director. Administers changes to the general ledger. This includes working with Corporate IT and adds new users to the system. Prepares and assists in internal/external audits. 1|Page
Receives, reviews, prepares and/or processes various records and reports including financial statements, financial reports and analyses, journal entries, Point of Sales reports, operating reports, attendance reports, unclaimed property reports, intercompany transactions, wire and ACH requests, annual tax package, reconciliations, inventories, yearly fixed asset additions, occupancy reports, concessionaire payments, collections, policies and procedures. Interacts and communicates actively with various groups and individuals such as Finance staff, Information Systems Manager, other members of the Park Management Team, other Park Associates, corporate personnel, personnel of other Parks, vendors, professional peers, consultants, tax authorities, guests, etc. Adheres to all park policies and procedures, including attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment.
