Drash from Rabbi Eric "1 Then ADONAI spoke to Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they approached the presence of ADONAI and died. 2ADONAI said to Moses, "Tell Aaron your brother not to come at just any time into the Holiest Place behind the curtain —before the atonement cover which is on the Ark—so that he would not die. For I will be appearing in the cloud over the atonement cover" This week, we continue reading the events connected with the Tabernacle and the offerings presented there. We begin with the words "after the death of Aaron's two sons." It was a great tragedy, not just because of their deaths, but because their actions brought about a change in fellowship with Ad-nai. However, even in this situation, we find a couple blessings we should pay attention to. 1) Aaron is told if he enters the correct way he will not die. 2) Ad-nai promises that He will still appear before Israel. I can imagine how Aaron and Moses would have felt after the deaths of Nadav and Avihu. They must have wondered how their actions would affect the relationship between Israel and Ad-nai. In this text, we find the continuing theme of restoration through sacrifice. Aren't you glad that theme still holds true today?
