Tell us about your collection location. ACR Health is a nonprofit health and human services organization that serves nine counties in Central New York. Why do you participate in the Energy Bar Wrapper Brigade sponsored by Clif Bar? Good health and nutrition are a part of ACR Health's mission; therefore, we promote healthy snack options which include energy bars. It was a natural choice for us to participate in the Energy Bar Wrapper Brigade sponsored by Clif Baf since our staff and the clients we serve consume this snack. How do you collect so many energy bar wrappers? Our green initiative is discussed at monthly staff meetings, in monthly newsletters, and via email. Collection locations are set out in different areas of our office for staff and clients to leave their bar wrappers when they are finished. Many staff have TerraCycle bags at home to collect and bring in to work with them. We also provide this snack at our three community fundraising walk/runs throughout the year and promote our green practices to the public. What tips do you have for other participants in the Energy Bar Wrapper Brigade sponsored by Clif Bar? It's very easy to form a "Green Team" and appoint an individual or individuals to lead in the collection of items for any TerraCycle Brigade. By having multiple bins throughout the organization and one dedicated site for sorting the Brigade items, it makes for an easy operation to collect, sort, and ship.
Is there a specific tool or resource that you've created to help you collect and recycle energy bar wrappers? We use many resources to spread the TerraCycle word: the TerraCycle program is reported at monthly staff meetings, regularly in our monthly newsletter to over 5,000 readers, at our community fundraisers, and by simple word of mouth. Tell us a story about your most exciting, memorable, or inspiring moment in collecting for the Energy Bar Wrapper Brigade sponsored by Clif Bar. Our most memorable collection story was when a Green Team member who works for a huge power plant came in with a very large box of bar wrappers. After shipping it to TerraCycle and seeing the total amount, it came to over 2,700 wrappers collected at this work place and brought to our agency for shipment. It was GREAT!

What is the best or most influential thing you've spent your TerraCycle points on? Continuing our green initiative. With our TerraCycle points, we have cashed them in and have purchased recycling and trash bins that are reusable for all of our community fundraising events. It also allows us to recruit more green team members by being able to purchase our green team t-shirts, hats and scrunchies.
Is there a specific message that you would like to share with Clif Bar, the brand partner of the Energy Bar Wrapper Brigade sponsored by Clif Bar? THANK YOU! On behalf of ACR Health, its staff, clients and the entire Central New York community, thank you for being an environmental leader by participating in this fantastic program.
Additional comments. Because of the sponsors of different Brigade programs giving points/pennies for each item collected, we have used that to promote our "Trash For Cash" Donation Program. With the local economy so low, people don't often have ready cash to make a charitable donation. By talking about the TerraCycle program to community members who may not have funds to donate, we let them know they still can donate by collecting their TerraCycle items at home and bringing them to the agency so we can turn around and collect the points/cash for their trash. It's a great way to help the community feel like they are donating to a nonprofit and also educate about recycling.
