EnglishSTARPhonics This is a bridge programme for children in early primary grades who fall below the green level in reading and do not qualify for entry into the English STAR Programme. They would be either in letter or word level in reading. The duration of this programme is 15 weeks .There is an initial assessment and subsequent assessments every five weeks. The final assessment which is a re-leveling test qualifies the child to enter into the English STAR Programme. It uses the Phonic method and rigour to bring the child up to sentence level in 15 weeks. Goal: At the end of the programme of 15 weeks the children are expected to reach sentence level and be able to read simple sentences with comprehension. Results:
Of children in letter level, 67% in R.B. Halli and 75% in Ravani moved up to sentence level.
Of children at word level, 80% in R. B. Halli and 100% in Ravani moved up to sentence level.
In RB Halli all 14 EnglishSTARPhonics children joined the English program
