Acura of Reno – Enjoy These Summer Events Summer is sadly wrapping up, but before it's over you can experience all the perks of the season at these events in Reno, Nevada. Whatever you're interested in, you can find an event to make the most of your summer in Reno. From food and wine to views of the stars, here are some great ways to celebrate the waning days of summer.
Biggest Little District Mixer — July 20 The Biggest Little District Mixer is a free event where guests get a glimpse of the exciting developments in northern Nevada's Biggest Little districts. Come to Washoe County Library from 5–8 p.m. for refreshments, wine, beer, and community bonding. This is a great opportunity to meet new people and learn more about what Reno has to offer for the coming year. This event is organized by the Riverwalk Merchants Association, which is dedicated to improving life in downtown Reno through arts, culture, and history.
Typewalk — July 27 Go on a tour of Reno's amazing history of signs from 6:30–11:30 p.m. Investigate typography in everything from murals, painted signs, and neon signage. The night starts with guests breaking off into small teams to take a photo for the commemorative poster. Get a map and discover these signs with your team, then come back and enjoy a slide show of photos from the evening. This event costs $12 and is held at a craft brewery.
Tahoe Star Tours — August 12 Take advantage of the long summer nights by going on a Tahoe Star Tour from 8:15–10:30 p.m. Tickets range from $20 for children 12 and under to $40 for adults. Tony Berendsen, the former president of the Nevada Science Coalition, will hold a presentation on astronomy, a laser tour of the stars, and a telescopic viewing of these astronomical wonders. The tour is held at the Dark Sky Cosmoarium in the Northstar California resort. Guests will enjoy a fire pit, outdoor heating, and complimentary Starbucks coffee and hot chocolate. Astronomy buffs will also love to look at the stars with the iPad wireless telescope and the Prodigy 6 robotic telescope.
Reno Art Fest and Wine Walk — August 20 Sample wine and check out a variety of hand-painted art from 2–5 p.m. in the Downtown City Plaza. Enjoy wine from a variety of downtown merchants while marveling at the craftsmanship of local artisans. This festival showcases different types of art, ranging from paintings to handmade wares. At the start of the event, you will receive a wine glass and a map of locations to visit. Tickets cost $20 and there will be public parking for this event.
