Adam and Eve Story Suggestion: Genesis 2:4-25; Genesis 3 God formed man out of the dust of the ground. He named this first man Adam. God took a rib from Adam’s side and formed it into the first woman, Eve. God put this couple into a wonderful garden called Eden. He told them to freely eat of all the fruit in the garden, but He commanded them not to eat the fruit of one tree. The serpent was more crafty than any other animal. He spoke to Eve and tempted her to eat the fruit God told them not to eat. Eve listened to the serpent and ate the fruit. Then she gave some to Adam, and he ate it. Because Adam and Eve disobeyed God, they had to leave their wonderful home.

Game Ideas: “The General Says” Directions: The "General" stands in the middle of the circle of chairs and gives commands to each child. These commands are not to be obeyed unless the command begins with the words, "The general says." Any child that follows orders without this authority are out of the game and must leave the circle. Sample commands might include: “Scratch your head,” “Step forward one step,” twice.”

“Salute!”

“Turn around

“Apple Guessing Game” Directions: Give each child an apple (they can be green or red, or both). Let each child examine their apple very carefully, looking for anything that they can remember about their apple. Once all of the children have had a chance to do this, collect the apples in a basket and place the basket in the center of the table. Now have the children come up to the basket and see if they can identify their apple. Just like apples can be told apart, God knows each of us, too!

Snack Ideas: A good snack for this lesson would be to slice the apples used in the game above and provide caramel for dip. Another good snack for this lesson would be applesauce:

Ingredients: 1 large apple cut in strips 1 tablespoon water 1 tablespoon sugar 1 dash of cinnamon

Directions: Remove the apple core. Put apple slices in an electric skillet. Add 1 tablespoon water. Cook until soft. Strain in a colander. Add 1 tablespoon sugar and mix gently. Add 1 pinch cinnamon and mix gently. Serve warm or cold.

Art Center Ideas: Snake Craft Materials: 6 toilet paper rolls per snake Yarn Wiggly eyes Tape Washable paints (green, brown, and yellow) Red construction paper Glue

Directions: Paint each roll the main color of the snake (usually either green or brown). Have the child paint designs on their rolls. Thread the rolls onto a piece of yarn, then tape the yarn to the front roll and back roll. On the first roll glue on wiggly eyes. Cut red construction paper into a little "forked" tongue and glue on the bottom edge of the roll.
