Adam Sanders (Associate Artistic Director, Academy Director) is a director, actor and teaching artist in Boston, specializing in educational theater and community outreach. He has directed and performed with more than a dozen theater companies in Boston and Western Massachusetts, including Theater Espresso and the Improbable Players, both educational touring companies serving middle and high school audiences. He is currently the Associate Artistic Director for Commonwealth Shakespeare Company in Boston, MA and the Associate Director of the Sorenson Center for the Arts at Babson College where CSC is the theater in residence. Directing credits for CSC include: A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Romeo and Juliet (CSC2 Company), Symphonic Shakespeare, (in collaboration with Boston Landmarks Orchestra at the Boston Hatch Shell); co-director: Boys from Syracuse, Kiss Me Kate and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (also BLO/Hatch Shell collaborations), co-director/dramaturg: Shakespeare and Leadership and CSCs unprecedented Shakespeare at Fenway performance in 2014. In addition to his directing credits, Adam oversees educational and community engagement efforts for CSC, including serving as director for the company’s two professional actor-training programs: The Apprentice Program and CSC2. Adam has also created several community performance/education pieces including The Greenshow and CSC’s Lecture in the Grove series on the Boston Common and Henry, a Shakespeare for Young Audiences script. Adam holds a B.A. in English from UMass, Amherst and an M.A. in Theater and Community from Emerson College. He will next direct CSC2 in Julius Caesar in spring 2017.
